Sounds like you need a bolt-on security modification.
The late Heinz Keigler made a good one, I think someone is carrying on with his design. Do a forum search and you'll find several recent threads discussin the fix.
What happens is that the swingarm spindle tube in the transmission cradle becomes worn out and allows the spindle to wallow around. I'll bet dollars to donuts your spindle and bushings are fine.
Very common problem; once it starts getting loose, the problem compounds itself over time.

The spindle collars are the common solution, next below that is welded nuts on thin cradle tube to run spindle fixing bolts through. Double check the slack motion is not also coming from worn isolastics. Grabbing tire rim and twisting is good to check too beside just side side shoving.
