The swingarm on my 72 Commando is loose. Can anyone recommend someone I can send it to for service?

Thanks in advance for your help, fast21151

Sounds like you need a bolt-on security modification.

The late Heinz Keigler made a good one, I think someone is carrying on with his design. Do a forum search and you'll find several recent threads discussin the fix.

What happens is that the swingarm spindle tube in the transmission cradle becomes worn out and allows the spindle to wallow around. I'll bet dollars to donuts your spindle and bushings are fine.

Very common problem; once it starts getting loose, the problem compounds itself over time.

check the fit of the pin in the frame to see if that is where your play is at. that is the common problem. if it is I can help you with an easy fix.

Sorry, Windy. You KNOW my memory is getting short. I forgot to call you back!

I could hardly walk. My knife-making / machinist friend stuffed us with beef ribs, avocados, ice cream and fuge brownies. He makes some darned fine BBQ sauce.

The spindle collars are the common solution, next below that is welded nuts on thin cradle tube to run spindle fixing bolts through. Double check the slack motion is not also coming from worn isolastics. Grabbing tire rim and twisting is good to check too beside just side side shoving.
