Picked up one of these. Should be easier to drain and cleaner too.
Sump plug

Fits like a glove. Havent used it yet but I did thread it into the case. Internally it looks exactly like the original. It seems like a quality piece.

Guess I wont be needing the wrench I used only 2 times.

Won't you need the wrench to install the plug? And to occasionally remove the plug to look for stray bits of Norton engine internals??? You might want to cut the handle off the wrench and reweld it on the edge so it works on the new plug.

Thinking about that. The wrench wont fit as is and its not a great fit to begin with.
I am going to look for an open end wrench or a socket that will be the correct size.
Hopefully there will be no stray bits floating around.

Buy yourself a decent 1/2 " drive socket set and some whitworth sockets. [ make sure it has a strong bar [ toggle bar to some ]

Drill a hole through the center big enough to clear the small plug. Easier than cutting/welding, assuming the strap's wide enough. BTW, did you ever look into the socket idea? That has the advantage of clearing the small plug.

While your at it you should get rid of the silly wire clip that holds the gauze filter & washer in and replace it with a real spring clip..
