I just bought a not running ‘77 T140 750 5 speed Triumph.

Fixed the “no spark” problem and moved on to the carbs - 930 Amals. They are zinc of course and with chrome slides - not sure of that though since they both are stuck solid at the normal closed throttle position.

Don’t want to pry too hard and they are sitting now, still on the bike, tied to their throttle cables, saturated with PB Blaster overnight

If that fails I’ll try a carb dip.

Any other ideas?

After you get the slides loose, lube them with a product from NAPA (auto parts stores) called "Lock Ease". This is a dry graphite lubricant.

Slick

Boiling water - great idea; I was thinking of a propane torch which is a bad idea by comparison
