A friend of mine has had his Commando stolen a few days ago.

I know it's a real long shot posting this, but you never know! It's just possible that something is recognised somewhere by someone.

Les if it is inappropriate to post here, please feel free to move it.

Registration No KWH 58 N
Engine No 318544
Frame No 318544

Very standard trim, plastic air boxes, etc.

ID details:
Oil cooler/ gauge
New Stainless Rims & spokes
Stainless spindles
Rear rack & Pannier frames
Very small dent on top of tank
Small crease on rear mudguard, under light

I'll be looking out for it! Unless someone just keeps it in his garage it'll turn up Bas*tards, cutting both arms and legs off would be a good punishment!

Keep an eye on Ebay, it will proberly end up as bits or a Ringer,,,, If the thief as a frame and crankcase's, two weeks later a "new" bike!

It used to be legal to shoot horse thieves in America, should be standard practice for thieves everywhere! Hope it turns up for you. Twenty years ago a friend of mine's garage was broken into & the scumbags took all three of his restored Indian Chiefs! Still to this day he has no running bike, I don't think he ever got over the pain. Very sorry for your friend.

Hope the thieving scum get caught and your mate gets his bike back. I'm always on the look out for bits - I'll keep an eye out but I suspect its been taken to order.

I check the US and UK ebay several times a day, I'll post if I see anything suspicious posted.

Although it will probably be disguised if it ever comes on ebay in one piece, it had some very nice pannier carriers which always looked to me similar to the frames on a 1980's BMW. Very well built and "original" looking as if they were designed for the bike. They were in black, not chrome.

Check flee bay constantly, friend had some serious fishing gear stolen from his truck including numbered Hardy reels & rods whole lot ended up on fencers paradise (flee bay) as a job lot. Another Pal had his tools nicked out his Van, what f##kin lo life steals a mans tools, His boss (God bless him) told my Pal to go out and replace what he had lost at the companies expense) to which he answered thank you so much, but where do I go to buy the square & plain that my Grandfather gave me, where do I get the saw handle that fits my hand perfectly. Greatest of respect Gino but arms and legs are not enough!!!

No need for a frame when you can buy unpunched tags on e-bay for $15 as for the engine number, it can probably be altered or just ignored when the bike is re-registered.

I've seen my friend today (whose Commando was stolen) and had some more information. I apologise for taking up space adding none technical information, but what I've been told infuriates me.

Apparently, the Commando was spotted by the policein the early hours of the morning being ridden 3 up! The bike was not persued by the police because it may have resulted in the said perpetrators coming to harm!!!! (YES PLEASE)

I'm flabergasted! If I violate traffic law, let alone deliberately commit an act of theft, I have to pay £60 fine each time plus have insurance premium increases and ultimately will lose my licence and my job.

Scroats, are allowed to break the law without being challenged, and then go on to keep the proceeds and presumably make as much cash as I make in two or three months having worked for 300 to 450 hours! Justice........I don't think so. I must be getting old, but it's about time that we were all held accountable for our actions...whatever the consequences. Rant over

At first the elf n safety crap sounds like something you'd read in
the Mail, but it is all too common.
It is beyond understanding for the average guy and Im afraid it
will not get better. Those that have must give, those that
dont take.
That is considered Fair Play in today's world. Glad Im getting old.

Chance he may get it back then, looks like its been stolen ny low life scumbags we're all paying to keep in the manner they've become accustomed to rather than just low life theiving scumbags.
Now I know I can go to the pub and not worry about being over the limit I'll just ask another 2 people to join me on the run home then I've no chance of being caught!!!!

I had an almost brand new 81' Kawa GPZ1100 stolen when I lived in New Orleans. I was in the doctor's office for about an hour and came out and bike gone. A painting crew just down the street said 4 guys in a pickup lifted it into the bed and raced away. Maybe my bad for not chaining it to something but it was broad daylight in a busy part of town. The police came and said forget about getting that bike back as it was probably already in dozens of pieces and on the black market.

If its been stolen by joy riders I would do a search of all the wastelands and local playing fields or even council estate. They will rag it round until it breaks or runs out of petrol and then dump it (hopefully without burning it out) the police wont search for it, they'll wait for a report from the public. If they were organised it would have gone in a van. Keep us posted - especially for good news.

You've got a good point there, but the only concern though is that the thieves moved two other desirable bikes to get to the Commando, so it does look as if they wanted that specific bike, but we can live in hope?

The owner has put up flyers offering £500 reward for information leading to its recovery in the area that it was last seen.

Did he have any rare or unusual parts on his bike. Many of us end up with something we hand filed or improvised on our bikes that no one else has. If the bike gets parted out these type items will show up for sale or on the thief's bike.
