Hey guys,

Just cleaning Norrie Norton for a ride tomorrow, started her up to check the beautiful beast over and the throttle is not returning in the snappy fashion that it would normally do. It returns, but slowly. Like it’s binding.

Dual cable system is pretty basic, not sure that there is much to go wrong there. Can’t see that I have disturbed anything during my clean.

Anybody any ideas as to my my throttle is nor closing/snapping back as should be the case.

Any assistance would be gratefully received - hoping to ride tomorrow!

Thanks.

there is a wee hole in the plastic on the throttle ,give it a squirt of wd 40 and it should free up the throttle .

Which way you heading for the ride, if your coming south let me know ;)

cheers
Paul

Hey Paul,

Good to hear from you, hope everything is going well. I will try the throttle WD 40 trick. Just read Richard throttle manual and spotted that little lubrication aperture.

Quick ride around the Sunshine Coast for breakfast at Kin Kin. Bit too far North for you Southerner! We will have to get together soon though and compare shiny bits!

Best regards.

Sounds like a plan

You can disconnect the twist grip and cables at the twist grip. Remove the screws at throttle , work the cable ends off and see if the throttle body valves move freely and spring back ? Also lube under throttle sleeve .

Thanks Tony, I will try that I think. Lubricated with WD 40 which helped a little but the throttle is not returning freely as it should.

I’ll keep you informed.

Did the same for mine to no avail. I think I need to cut more off the end of the new grip to solve my problem. But I do like letting go it from time to time to shake out the numbness in my hand. ;)

Sorry guys, never closed off this thread,

You guys were right of course, despite the fact that I had not touched the right hand bar end cap,it was that which was causing the binding. Loosened this and moved it out ever so slightly and all is back to,normal - DOH! Doh’nt know why I did’nt check that to start with!

Cheers

Solved my problem as well. I took a razor blade and trimmed the lip off the new grip and that did it. I appreciate the new anti-vibration grip even more now.
