Hi all, after a bit of advice.... (I haven't yet road tested the bike after a full rebuild, that includes the gearbox, so I don't plan to do anything yet.
All downchanges are engaging correctly and the linkage is returning to the base line position... on the up changes again they engage but the lever is not returning to the base line without a little flick of the hand or boot
All internal springs have been replaced.
Your thoughts please??

Personally I would take it apart and check for any binding
Have you checked the hairpin spring?
Is there pawl free on the pivot on the ratchet?
Have you had the outer cover machined to take a gearshift oil seal?
It's only the outer cover you need to remove ,so I'd say dive in and take a look
Cheers

Hi ,
The shift lever is independent of the guts of the box once your foot has done with it. It should restore by the big fat spring that wants to keep the shift shaft in its central location. It sounds like something in the outer cover mechanism is binding.

I haven't removed any covers as yet, so just getting a feel for where the issue may lie.

The outer cover was replaced as the incorrect one came in the basket case, so it has been machined to accept seals
Through this week reading the posts from Johno23 and looking at the components in the outer cover, I'm wondering if the pawl carrier arm is touching the gearchange stop plate.
This would figure as it only sticking on the up changes & not the down
I like your style Baz Dive in..

Thanks
