This is not a classified ad because I have no idea if there is any interest out there. But if anyone is interested, I bought a used RITA off eBay a few years ago. I never got around to installing it. It was supposed to be fnctional but I never tested it. If there is anyone out there who is interested, let me know.

 Wiring etc. ?
Dang....I need a photobucket account.....didn't know there'd be this much interest. I'm not an expert by any means but it appears to have all the wiring....

Here's the deal. I'm not much of a mechanic. (I program computers.) I picked up the RITA a fdw years ago when I was going to buy a new starter unit from Dyno Dave and he made it clear the Boyer I had was a POS (at least for electric start bikes). I pulled the bike out of the corner of the shop where it's been sitting for 4 or 5 years and found the RITA in a box of parts I'd picked up but never installed.

I picked up the RITA before the wave of new units came out from Tri-Spark and Pazon, et. al. Not being a mechanic, I was thinking I'd be better off with one of the more idiot proof units, like the Alatir or Tri-Spark.

Does that make sense?

Provided the Rita operates, it IS idiot proof. I've run one since '82 and never have had an issue. If Dave can tell you how to bench test it, and it passes, I wouldn't hesitate to put it on. They're old school yes, but were good enough for F1 in the day. Think about it before you unload it. If you just want to be rid of it, email me a price. You remember what you have onto it?

I'm not sure I understand why anyone would want to use this old Lucas stuff? Is there a good reason to use it as opposed to a modern system or is it just that it would most likely be cheaper?? As far as "unobtanium" I have at least one used one laying around & a friend has 4 or 5 bran new in the box sets of them he's tried to sell at Vintage swap meets without any luck so I doubt a unobtanium price should be required. Why would someone want to use this old system?

For a long time they were the only electronic ignition that worked with the electric starter....now I'm not so sure. There seems to be two schools of thought...

Because they last. Good on low voltage, way to go on Mk3.
However...just recently my faith was almost lost, I installed one I had bought many years ago secondhand. It blew the fuse straight away. Ripped off, I thought. Still, opened it up, found the feed wire had got sqeezed inside. Freed and insulated the wire, and now functions as it should.
And don't you just love this period piece of hard core electronics?
Hail Rita! Bennie

Haven't had the pleasure of opening mine. Nice to see where the smoke goes though.

Well I got to admit I bought a 72, 750 around 1979 or 80 and it had one in it that ran for years as a daily ridder rain or shine. Never gave me any trouble & as far as I know it's still in that bike running around Austrailia somewhere so maybe long life is one good reason.
