In Daytona for a week of relaxation and this Saturday's ASRA Team Challenge at the Speedway. I brought the SS clone down to have something to putt about on. Got back from a rainy ride today and met a nice British gentlemean, Martin, a BSA guy, who walked over and related a long story, the point of which I waited patiently for.
Seems he started his higher education at a college outside London on 1968. In an electrical class, his lab tech (apparently the professors only deal with theory), Ernie, was trying to invent an electronic substitute for bobweight-and-spring auto advance. Ernie, being something of a science wonk and not a motorcycle type, took Martin's suggestion he take his test rig to the local Triumph dealer, who raced and could get a leg up on the competition with such a device. Turns out the Triumph dealer's name was Boyer and Ernie's last name was Brandsen and you all know the rest.
