Rebuilt Combat, boyer ignition, original Amal 932 with 8500 original miles.

So the bike runs and sounds great, and maybe i am just looking into it a little to deeply as the other bikes I ride are modern fuel injected machines.
the engine idles great and runs great under a slight or heavy load, however on the over run you can feel a faint cut out every now and then.
is this regular for the carburetted machine or a slight timing issue?

Any thoughts....................... 8)

Or am I just expecting to much from a 40 year old machine.................

I was getting something here and there and I reach down to the new spark plug wires and got shocked. I also tinker with them and things clear up immediately.

:D

I tend to agree, if carbs then would be more consistent cut outs than if electrical grimlin. Check after dark. My Trixie Combat will stall sometimes after hi speed let offs and just this week on slow speed let offs, till I realized I was still on show off low slide setting idling below 800 so bumped up 900ish to stop that. Slide cut out I think affects this too, just not sure how, but note it for others to fill us in. I sense rougher running in her on closed or low throttle rolling, but think its the #3 cut out richness or low float levels. So minor not bothered to change anything this year, so far.
