Please explain ??
My old slides, marked as # 3, seem to measure 4 1/2 mil, ish.

Slide cutterway.

And my new slides, marked as # 3 1/2, seem to measure 5 1/2 mill, ish.

Slide cutterway.

I allways thought the number, corresponded with the amount of cuttaway, as with Mikunis'
# 2.0 = 2 millimeter cuttaway.
Obviously not.

It does, however Amal slide cutaways are graded in fractions of an inch. One cutaway "unit" is 1/16". (and a 'half' unit is 1/32") so a '3' slide = 3/16" (4.762mm) cutaway, and a '3-1/2' would be 7/32" (5.556mm) etc..

Where did you get the chromed throttle valve for the 930 (I assume you have a 930)? I only see them for the 600 series on the Amal site. Is that chrome already worn at the bottom of the valve or is that the way it came?

Seek and yee shall find, or get told.
Thanks L.A.B. and Daveparry, I thought there would have to be an "Englich answer".
Dave, you will have to ask Pvisserii where they came from, as I bought the carbs from him. As second hand.
They are 932. and yes they wouldn't want to flake much more.
I may be needing a pair of # 3 cuttaway, so will be interested in finding the best option.

Beware of chrome slides especially the initial introductions of them up to last decade ago as prone to flaking. These instant ones may or may not be the flake prone kind or just not run that long yet but bottom is evidence its lurking. I've had vendors refuse to sell me chrome old stock explaining above in no uncertain terms to put me off. There are other base metal and plated type out there even Al but I don't know enough yet to buy any. Hope to quiz this at INOA rally and find some too.
