On the Shindengen website, the various types of regulator/rectifiers are shown, and as I just have a stock single phase alternator, I suppose I could do with a single phase regulator/rectifier.
However, I want an open (same as series?) type regulator. Also considering that I want to install a Li-Ion battery.
Question is only : which type Shindengen (or other?) should I be looking for ?
Also: I don't want any fake type, ebay and amazon are flooded with these. So any link to a genuine type is appreciated.

If you don’t want to source parts yourself, you may consider buying a kit from Jack at https://www.roadstercycle.com/

I have put a SH775 on several bikes now and am really impressed with the stats and charging abilities.

I would strongly recommend that you swap your alternator stator for a three phase unit though - a better charge at low RPMs makes it well worth the effort.

Single phase open regulator rectifier

You can run a single phase alternator through a 3 phase reg, just connect the 2 alt output wires to any 2 input wires, ran this way for 15 odd years and it gives you a spare wire in case one of the 3 phases goes bad.

@kommando I'm not sure the Series type Shindengen will operate correctly with only one phase connected.

I may stand corrected, but i believe there is circuitry that monitors voltage differential across the AC phases going in.

I'm running the SH775 on my oem 2 wire alternator and love it. Puts out good voltage at low rpm, I have a Shorai Lion battery and never have to put a charger on it. Takes care of itself, even with my e-start.

Anyone knows about a European vendor for the SH775 ? I am living in Belgium and we have to pay a lot of handling costs and import taxes for anything ordered from the US.
And apparently China is not an option in this case ;).

If you have a Polaris snowmobile dealer the part can be sourced from them. They use it in certain models. If you want to step up there is the bigger model SH 847 which can be found on certain model Suzuki’s motorcycles.

Watch out for Italian sellers of SH775 on ebay, genuine OEM prices but very Chinese looking.

Yes, I agree. That’s why I only mentioned Polaris or Suzuki as sources, there seems to be a big problem with counterfeit or “will fit” items.

@gtiller:
The one from mtp-racing does unfortunately not show the actual FH020AA reference, nor the 1 slotted and 1 round mounting hole, nor the dot-shaped casting marks, found when you search for "FH020AA real or fake, don't get ripped off on Ebay".
At least they don't show any additional pictures on their website ?
Did you have the chance to do some measurements on your last unit?

Your local Triumph dealer has a 10'' long wiring harness that fits these Shindengen R/R's for $9.84 # T2500676 . I'v bought one from Hermys Triumph and one from Roadstercycle. The Roadstercycle home page is a good place to visit for prices, pictures, and information.

Where do you live in Belgium? I am using Podtronics units on my 3 British bikes, reasonably cheap and very reliable. I did blow one, but it wasn't to blame, it actually resisted very well to a very bad (electrical) situation for quite some time as I realized afterwards.

@Jagbruno: Flandre-Occidentale, près de la frontière linguistique.
I already installed a Podtronics unit on the rear mudguard, below the seat, just behind the battery-area.
However, as I understand the Podtronics is a shunt-type regulator, and my Commando appears to be 'eating' the lead-type batteries (YUASA YB14L-A2). So that's why I was considering replacing it by a Li-ION type, but then I am afraid the Podtronics will destroy the battery and itself...
Therefore, I am researching where (outside the US) I can find a genuine SH775. Not overly expensive, but no fake type either like on German Amazon from Mag1Deal (replace the 1 by i)

I got mine from a Polaris/SeaDoo dealer. Maybe you have one in your country?

Searching for part no 4012941, from a Polaris dealer, I find one for 279,40 €, which is slightly over the top for me...
Searching for SH775, I always arrive via ebay at obscure Italian vendors offering ditto brands, or via Suzuki I arrive again at US-based partzilla ... So either cheap fake regulators or very expensive from either US-import or local Polaris dealer.
Could anyone advise me some European sales channel for a normal priced SH775 ?

I can’t help you with the European vendor, But just to let you know the Suzuki unit is a SH847 and is considerably larger that the SH775 and is probably overkill for a Norton.

Jack from https://www.roadstercycle.com/ says he will ship worldwide and seems to be a real nice guy from my communications with him.
