Side stand spring fail (2016)

I was checking out the side stand that needs some weld build-up on the frame lug to correct some wear and found that the spring was almost worn through.
This is the end that fits into the frame cross tube. The hole in the cross tube is worn oval but not too bad.
Just another thing to check. Are the stainless steel aftermarket springs better?

welded a washer around the frame tube hole to prevent ovaling, easier to replace the spring than to fix that hole

I realize this is an old post but I have had a stainless spring simply snap at the first coil
 
Bugger in twenty years time you will have to replace it again is there no end to it all !!!!!!
