side stand for a '70?

Some take all the stands off and lean it against a building.

Norvil is saying that the early side stand is more prone to have the pin that holds it on fall off, because it's just held on with 2 small circlips. I put a 7/16 bolt and nylock on mine. I don't think it will kill you if it falls off. It's been more than once I've started off without putting the side stand up and all it does is kinda bounce as you go over it. Not good for it though.

Here's the pin with a small original clip and a replacement clip.

Be aware that Novil is addressing the stand found only on the '71 model. This is a different stand than those on 68-70 models and also different than those on '72-'75 models.

I'm looking for a BSA 83-1560 which is about 4" longer than the Norton stand. I always have to put a block of wood under the stand or it leans over at a precarious angle, and impossible to start like that. I'd like to keep the original, just 'cause.
