I'm awaiting two deliveries from UK...one from INOC (Mick Hemmings gearbox DVD ordered last week of December) & a gearbox rebuild kit direct from Mick Hemmings ordered on January 2nd. Now at the fourth week and getting a bit anxious.
What are others experience, particularly if you're West of the Rockies in Canada?

Typically 3 weeks to T-dot, I'd probably add another 5 days onto that for you granola munchers out there

Yup , 4 weeks and I would be checking up with shipper , did you have parcel tracking .... think longest I waited was for my lansdowne fork kit from JRB and maybe he had to make it up , sorry can’t remember ....

Both items were shipped via postal service and international tracking is likely to be prohibitively expensive if available at all.
I did have an item from Norvil arrive quite rapidly (less than 2 wks if I recall) sent last fall. Also just standard post.

Hey Tornado : Angela eventually found a set of the vernier iso adjusters i was wanting , laying around (Mick had stashed them away for future projects). they shipped out on Jan 10, i got them on friday...maybe the size of the package is hindering quick delivery?

i had one order from the hemmings take 6 weeks.... small package and i think when the the uk mail loads a container in the UK to go on the plane there's no telling how long its sits in the UK and over here before it is cleared.

That's very surprising. To NZ out of the UK it takes less than a week unless there is duty to pay. Sometimes small parcels from the UK are here in 3 days.

But if it goes into NZ customs then all bets are off and can sit for weeks while they decide how much to charge you.

But out of the USA it is really slow. I currently have a parcel coming from Chicago. First it took 3 days to go to New York - wrong direction. Then Tokyo via two airports in Japan. Then Sydney Australia. And then to Auckland where it still sits in customs. All this despite the fact Air NZ have non stop flights Auckland Chicago. However JS's parcels are very fast through San Francisco. I have had stuff from him in less than a week.

Good to hear you got the adjusters...I had requested a rear set to be included with my gearbox kit order and Mick said no problem....so when you had claimed in an earlier thread they were out of stock and would be no longer available (their machinist guy retiring) I'd thought I got the last one on Earth...

I guess it's really hit or miss with delivery times. I'll just have to sit tight and suffer siliently. Weather is looking really nice recently....might have to fire up the Bonneville and get insurance back on soon!

Got the rebuild kit and vernier adjuster today...27 days! Still waiting on the DVD from INOC. Their web page states purchases can take 2-3 weeks before being shipped...as the process relies on volunteers to perform.
Maybe one day we can convince them to put these on Amazon as a downloadable file...

That’s good news Mike ! .... concerning your bike insurance , it sounds as if you can insure for half year ? .... here in NS my provider will only cover me a year at a time , my coverage runs Sept-Sept .... I have compared premiums with other Duc Club members and I’m not paying more just different .... still no flex .... not trying to hijack just noticed your ins. comment , glad you got one of your parcels .... it snowing hard here, as I write this ....

Yes, we can insure for a month, a week a day...but it's a losing effort as short payment rates are higher.
As far as I'm aware, the " Multi Plate" option here is the very best way to reduce costs on multiple vehicles...one standard yearly rate covers all your bikes. But sadly these must all be "collectors" category and all bikes or all cars/trucks. I have two bikes, one car and only one a collector (norton)...so I must pay full rates for two moderns and get 2/3 off for the collector. I have friends paying same total cost as my one car for covering 10-20 bikes!

    On the original question.

I think you problem will be at the North American end.

Yesterday I received a large parcel including a Interstate seat from RGM. Sent on 23 rd, delivered on 30 th. 7 days including customs through Auckland, a weekend and a public holiday. 11,480 miles. Minimum of 3 flights. UK, Dubai, Auckland.

Several days earlier on 18 Jan I had a parcel around the same size sent from Chicago. It still hasn't arrived. So far 13 days, 8350 miles (40 % less). Plus postage was more expensive.

You can fly nonstop Chicago to Auckland.

Track and Trace says it has done a world tour. Chicago, New York, Tokyo, Sydney. A fair bit of that is going in the wrong direction.

Hope it was packed well :-(

Yes. We had a postal slow-down/strike happening weeks prior to Holidays so there must have been quite a large back log of mail to deal with. One other potential issue to the Hemmings package....Angela, bless her heart, had re-used a small carton within the outer foam package...was a perfume bottle package labelled "Opium"! Must have been some eyebrows raised at the mail inspection station ;-)

And today our Posties delivered the MH Gearbox DVD from INOC. As mentioned previously, this was ordered at least 1 week prior to the rebuild kit.
A very satisfying watch....loads of good details & tips from a Norton "Zen" master! Now I'm really out of excuses to get on with the job!

And, just a footnote....had a UK package arrive today, from Classic Dynamo Conversions, sent Jan. 29th...that's four days...standard postal service...small bubble wrapped pouch.

So, lesson here is, delivery times are completely hit or miss.

My bet would be it is customs that causes the variation. They seem to have three levels of service depending upon how much money it can generate. The first queue gets top priority, second queue gets standard priority. Those of us who don't generate much revenue get the Far Queue.

Perhaps, but all three of my recent UK packages came through with no duty/taxes...despite the highest value one being over $200 cdn.

RGM to Kerikeri. Email Friday afternoon NZ time, Parcel arrives the next Tuesday NZ time. Last week my other parcel took 2 days longer but Auckland Anniversary day was on the Monday. Bloody near quicker than going across NZ. NZ may be a long way from The north of England but looks a lot closer than Canada by mail. Not cheap though.

A final update. Got my parcel from Chicago today. 24 days compared to 7 days from the UK. Both had to go through NZ customs.

UPS did the UK one. USPS and NZ Post did the Chicago one. UPS got though NZ customs in 12 hours. NZ Post took 13 days. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually havn't seen the parcel yet so I hope its in good shape after it's world tour.
