I don't know why she's upset. I said I was going out to the garage to "change the oil and fix a few other things."

Married bliss, my wife puts up with a lot but she knows I am happiest when up in the shed, in fact I could live up there as I spend most of my time there if not out on the bikes and now even better I have built a open extension on my shed and having a open cover area to work on the bikes in the cool, my shed gets very hot in summer but having the covered work area with a nice cool sea breeze in the afternoon, a cold beer when I want it listening to my music, now where is that list of things to do, work on the Norton, get the dirt bike sorted out, finish rebuilding my mate's Norton motor or work on the project Manxman, hmmmm might have a beer and think about it.

Happy bliss and to the new year to all

Appreciate both the humor of bargaining with mates but also the signs of illness of such premeditated neat work desk! Hope your illness festers to road fever.

Fact is its testimony to a successful dude getting life ordered and satisfaction most rest of us still striving for. Its like what ya see at BMW FI work areas. Yeah man!

Hmm, if shows up in fancy factory type uniform - then might be pause for concern, unless Norton logo'd of course, then we'd all want it too.

Hahaha.

No need to get too worried about organization and progress. This one is 7+ years in the making and it's still not quite done.

Hahaha looks like you have your wife worked out or she knows you better than you think, If I could get a car up to my shed who knows what I would have up there, love to build a hotrod but just don't have the room, my shed is all about bikes and nothing else + two wheels are more fun in my opinion.
Looks a bit crowed under that bonet but looks good.

I'm guessing that belt isn't driving the alternator ;)

I wish my workspace was as well organised...

Happy New Year all :)

When I was refurbishing the SS clone back in the 80's, my first wife accused me of paying more attention to the motorcycle than I did to her. The current wife at least appreciates that she knows where I am and it ain't in the tavern.

Hahaha, I think you know why. Being in a relationship requires even more flair than keeping the Norton alive! On the other hand, it pays off to listen to the missus, just as it pays off to go after strange noise coming from your bike. Good luck and a happy new year!

And therein lies the problem. At some point I decided that 300hp wasn't enough for this lump of a car, so I figured that a pump might be able to fix that. So that's a 2.2 litter autorotor on top, and it pushes 8 psi into the lump.

I'm going to jail!!

My first wife said I loved my bikes and dog more than I loved her. Had to tell her I had both before we got married. Now on my second wife and approaching our 25th anniversary.

I knew my wife as kids her father was my dads best friend when we finaly went out together I was 30 years old and wanted kids, but before we married I told her the bikes were number one and will alway come before her, she fully understands that as they are my life, well after 26 years we are still together, she lets me go away when ever I need to excape when things get me down or getting away with the boys, she is a good woman but she does drive me mad some times, I think thats built into them LOL.
Now that I am retired she lets me go away on the bike for week or longer without any questions at all, she knows I am loyal to her (silly girl, no not really) but I always tell her where I am going and where I be staying, she just says don't drink to much and be safe, I just wish more of my mates had wifes like mine and they were let lose more often, trust plays a big part in any relationship, but I do have two other love's in my life my 2 female Australian Cattle dogs, sometimes they get more attention than the wife, but don't tell her that LOL

She's been riding pillion since before I bought my first Commando in '72. (Hey Little Honda anyone?) I let her have 6 weeks of freedom after she graduated from highschool before I put a ring on that, and this year makes 45 since that summer. There's been good times and bad times and there's two great kids to show for it. So I'm happy to putter around with the old toys and on some evenings, swing on the porch swing with her. It's been a good go.

Well, I can't tell whether I'm gaining or losing! But the parts pile is growing..

And WTF size of allen wrenches are those fasteners on the carbs and handlebars?!?!

Haha i know the bragged about seasoned wives are just happy you are distracted from bothering them with male interests. Orderly desk may imply only place one has some control over life affairs.

I once spread out all neaty the tools required to deal with damaged distorted broken to the core Commando, like seen in fighter air craft with scope of weapon/ammo arranged neatly surrounding it, to cover half of two car garage pad with heavy duty hammers and levers to pipe wrenches and carpentry chisels and oxy/actyl bugler back pack torch set. 3 types of sockets sets, SAE, metric and Metrinch special sockets for rounded off nuts. Cute tiny crow bar levers for sprockets and bent picks and magnet and grip retrivers you hope never need like me. Six foot long HD pry bar to straighten tweaked center stand not often listed or seen in tiddy tool kits.

Hobot, the history of your posts in this forum demonstrates that you think you know a lot about much. Why aren't you rich?

If you're talking about the manifold socket-head cap screws, try 7/32"
The handlebar clamps are prob the same, but when I replaced mine w stainless, it became 1/4.

But remember the carbie allen key needs to be shorten to fit, I still have the one that came in the tool kit with my new Norton all them years ago.
