18 years with a Boyer and no failures, just make sure it is nicely wired in, use a silicon in the hole where the wires enter the points cover and ensure that there is a drip loop- actually a sag that sits lower than the hole, to allow for engine to frame movement and water to run off and away from the points cover. I use stock coils and Iridium plugs and can not even remember the the last time the bike failed to start or kick back. Inspect occasionally in the points cover and that's all I ever need to do other than regular bike check over, loose wires, corroded terminals loose bolts bolts etc - the usual really.
