Well, after rebuilding the engine from top to bottom my Combat still wet sumps like water going through a sieve...so I took the timing cover and oil pump off today to ship off to AMR for their mod. I swear, the pump has practically no end play and is solid. I don't know why it wetsumps this bad especially when it's got SAE 50 in it and 20 degrees outside. Oh well. Hopefully this solves the problem.

That is by far the best anti- wet sump mod you can make. Anything else is just inviting trouble.

I had this AMR mod done on mine a few years ago. It helped, and doesn't wet sump near as bad asi it did. Don't expect a miracle though ... still wet sumps if left long enough. Hope this helps ...

Well I got back my pump and timing cover from AMR. While I used to have no end play in my pump... and thought that it was tight, the AMR mod really has tightened it up even more. It is noticeably harder to turn the pump gears by hand which I can only assume will help prevent the wet-sumping.

The machining on the timing cover to install a ball/spring check valve looks great too. Fingers crossed this solves my problem. At the very least, it should greatly improve it. I would lose half my oil tank in a week or so -so it will be easy to see the difference.

Hi Guys. Since it has been like the ice ages here in St. Louis, my bike has not moved in over a week. Today, I pulled the sump plug and drained the oil to see how much was in there. After just over a week of sitting I had about 8-9 ounces of oil drained into the sump with the AMR/Nortec mod. Before I did this modification I would have around 20+ after a week so it's a massive improvement. -if not fixed.

How much oil should be in the sump? I mean, if I had shut off the oil flow after running, how much oil would I expect to see in the sump left over from operation? I am thinking that after a week of sitting, 8-9 ounces is probably what was coating the motor from normal operation.

I've left the sump plug off and will see if there is any seepage. (but it looks as if it has stopped dripping completely.)

Yes, 5 to 7 oz. is normal.

I also add 5 to 7oz. back to the sump through the exhaust valve covers when changing oil or after draining the sump. This gives the pump/system a fighting chance on initial start up.

Please explain "fighting chance"

Probably a poor choice of words. I just think it's important to have some oil for the return available.
