The heads of all 4 screws that hold the clutch lever and switch assy on the handlebar have become so badly stripped that my screwdriver will barely remove them. It can only get worse, so I welded a SS head off of a 10-32 socket head cap screw onto the stripped head.
Now I use an Allen head (5/32 hex) wrench to remove safely. Here's one of them:

Nice job but a lot of work as you can buy that screw at ace hardware.

Well.... not exactly. Those are 2BA X 3/8 inch long, which is close to 10-32 but not close enough. You can run a 10-32 tap through the threads and make it work, but you are weakening the threads.

On which years? I bought 10 X 24 stainless screws and put them right in. This was per the parts list at Old Britts.

This was an odd ball thread, I don't believe it is US thread. I tried everything I had before I decided to modify.
This is on MK3.

Nice work. I can't say as I have ever even seen a switch cluster on the Mk3.

Did you try metric (M5)?

I replaced the switch cluster screws on my MK1 with 10-32 SS from a local supplier and they fit perfectly.....

That's a great thread reference, LAB. Seems I'm not the first one to find the screws confusing. I never thought to try metric, but I guess that's what they are. Nevertheless, I'm fixed now and don't have to worry about them.

My mistake. I wasn't able to view the photo and misread the description. Those are listed as 10-24 and I have a box of allen head stainless screws that I use on the switches myself. Sorry for the bad post.
