I'm looking to return my 72 Roadster back to it's original colour as it left the factory.
I don't really want to repaint the tank I have on at the moment as it's too good a finish so I was thinking of getting a new one, having it painted and then selling the one I have at the moment.

I've looked around the site for threads on new tanks and saw one where eBay seller Partsparadise51's tanks seem to be ok but the link is now dead. A different seller came up on a search but with near identical wording and price so I was wondering if it's the same seller. Anyone here bought one?

It doesn’t answer your question, but we bought the Emgo one from Andover.

Happy with the quality, thickness of material was good, and you’d struggle to tell the difference between it an the original.

I particularly like the fact that they test the tanks before they go out the door

I’ve never heard of those boys, but your tank does look stunning.

Do they know Norton’s, or did you have to give detailed instructions re pin striping and logo locations etc?

We just gave them a pic of an original.

They knew what was needed, the knew all about Candy and the knew that the silver stripes and norton logo are the silver base coat (they use the decals as a mask)

They did stripe the side panels the wrong way first time round (which I see a LOT on Commandos) but they didn’t raise an eyebrow about starting again.

...I can guarantee they will never, ever make that mistake again!!!!

All in all, very impressed!

I've got one from Parts paradise and Emgo, the Emgo one is much better (but the partsparadise is certainly acceptable) got mine from bsa111 on ebay couple of years ago @ £250 , absolute bargain really.

Thanks all. It looks like the emgo one is the one to go for then. I'm quite tempted to try the other one though if I can go and look at it first as it's fairly close.

If you visit, could you ask him when he is getting steel Roadster side panels back in stock, the Interstate ones he does are very good, made by John Bull going by the box.

I've asked the question if they were previously "Partsparadise" and if they allow picking up of goods.

For the small difference in price and the certainty of quality, I’d be on the phone to AN ...

The difference in price is £154.00 which is half a paint job. I think Norvil's are Emgo as you are all probably right steering me to them (Emgo not Norvil)...tin hat at the ready...

Exactly mate.

Given the total cost of new tins and paint and time and etc... £154 ain’t much if it’s a better product.

And it’ll quickly get eaten up if you have to start doing any repairs, leak fixing, re paints, etc...

Partsparadise was based on India, Fairdeals2017 is UK based but I believe used Partsparadise as his source for tanks.

fairdeals2017 and partsparadise51 is the same company. Infact fairdeals2017 has been supplying norton parts to Andover norton, burton bike bits, norvil motorcycle. The quality on their petrol tanks is better than Emgo, also the company is based in Smethwick, UK, so you can walk in to their warehouse and buy the products directly from them. They have enormous variety of spares for classics.
The address is Phoenix Traders UK Limited 4-5 Cranford Way, Smethwick B66, They have even got a new website where the prices are lot better all the vat and duty paid and they can take the item back without questions asked if the quality on their products is not good. https://classicbikespareparts.com/ I hope that helps.

Just a quick update. I did ask two questions: Can I come and see the tank and were you previously Partsparadise.
I asked twice in fact. Both replies were exactly the same. " The tanks are very good and we have sold many."

I'm going to leave it at that.

Edit, I've just seen the other post about Fairdeals...hmmm.

In 2019, I bought a T160 tank from fairdeals2017. I was a bit dubious about this since I had read many tales of poor fitting tanks, but I wa assured that I could return it for a full refund inc. postage costs, so I went for it.
When it arrived, I noticed that the paint was marked from the plastic wrapping, as if it had been wrapped before the paint was fully dry. The fixing holes for the tank emblems were somewhat wrong, but the real problem was that the petrol taps were in the wrong position, and fouled the carbs. There was no way in hell that this tank would fit anything with amal carbs.
I returned the tank, but getting a refund was quite difficult, and I never did get a refund on the postage costs. I believe the tank was sold on to another poor soul, god only knows what the eventual fate of the tank was.
It was very well packed though.

I remember dealing with a partsparadise guy if it's the same one years ago. He was actually on the forum for a tiny bit and I thought I had a deal with him to try one out for a recommendation and then pay him, but it never did pan out. I also was not willing to send him the loot up front, it was a deal from India so I don't know about the one in UK. I'd like to hear some more, but I'm not interested in a tank any more. I kept my F/G one and use non-ethanol.
