Im after a SS Devon rim to lace to my front '74 . Stock WM2 19". After a bit
of back and forth and a call to Devon I pretty much bagged it due to the shipping
cost of a laced wheel.
So I went to Buchanan's page and ran up an order for the same. Got a order #
and a price, boxed my hub and a postal money order and sent it out.
Literally upon arriving home from the post office I get an email telling me
that Buchanan is out of stock on Devon 19" and has NO PLANS ON RESTOCKING!
Looks like they are parting company with Devon.
So I want all to know that they havent updated their page and they can
be a mite slow in answering general inquiries by email, so CALL them
with any plans.
...and as for me, I now have paid to ship and insure the hub, buy the
money order and may well have to pay to ship the damn thing back!
I have emailed Buchanan's to hold the hub and Ill try to get Devon to
ship them a rim direct.
No idea just why they have stopped dealing with Devon but there you
are.

Buchanan's is the best in the business, a phone call should have sorted the whole affair. I'd have them lace up some Excels.

Bummer, I wish I had seen the Devon SS WM2's when I was looking, I may have gone there, but I'm sure shipping would have been a killer. Anyhow, my chromed WM2's from Walridge look just like the old ones, just don't have the Dunlop stamp on them. Let us know how it works out.

Im not doubting Buchanan's work. Online stuff is a bit hit or miss
with a lot of guys, good ones included. For instance, there are those
who bitch about Les but his online ordering is fast and trouble free.
RGM likewise. Mick, well Angela is great, but it is a snail mail world
not an email world. I know, phone it in, but my sched doesnt always
allow. Email is best for me, there is always a text trail (ha ha almost
said paper trail!).
Devon offer SS and Chrome just have to see what I can get. Agree
that Excel would be a perfectly fine way to go but Im wishing to
stay stock in appearance.
It will take time but I will keep all informed as to how this plays out.

you can prob get an original dunlop on ebay if the devon won't go through. I sold the ones off my bike, and there was nothing wrong with them. I just wanted to go aluminum.

The guy manufacturing stainless rims is now entirely separate to the Devon Rim Company (http://www.devonrimcompany.com/contact.htm) For a less costly wheel why not find a used hub in the UK, get that sent to Doug, and ask him to build you a wheel?

Reporting back, oh list.
Sent off my hub (front) to Buchanan's.
They list the rim and spoke set on their page.
Called them and told they no longer offer
Devon SS rims. Few more email enquiries
and found out they had a front still on the shelf.
This where I left off last post.
So back it has come, looks nice, rim same and
spokes ordered unpolished but Id say they were
fairly polished unpolished (so to speak).
So Buchanan's rep remains intact. Too bad about
Devon no longer available.

...and as for Devon, I emailed a few times and
spoke to a nice lady but they seem a bit slow
on reponse and no really looking to lace and true
and ship. Am somewhat surprised they dont offer
Norton hubs as they have Andover not far away.
Yes, shipping a done wheel is about 150 bucks
but then Id say the market is there.
