Yes, I got a GoPro for my birthday and yes you will have to put up with me posting videos for the near future.

Be sure to watch in full screen and HD.

The video looks so much better before it gets re-encoded for YouTube. Those little cameras are pretty impressive.

Thanks to MikeT for joining me. Much more interesting to have someone else in the shot.

Good footage - definitely putting one on my 'want' list!

Would that be the Oregon countryside we're looking at?
It could be the UK if it was raining, and I didn't realise you guys had roundabouts either.
I rode the River Highway from Troutdale to Sandy a few years ago, a very nice part of the world - even on a H****y :)

very good Dave, I just bought one yesterday not a Go Pro. it came with all kinds of useless mountings so I made my own and JB'd it to my helmet, tried it yesterday and today and its not to bad, should have some fun with these things. cost $100 Rollei Bullet Action Cam

Looking to get one soon. 3 of my brothers and I are riding from Charlotte to Atl in July and I want to video document the ride. Do you have authentic GoPro mounts or aftermarket? The video quality is awesome. As you post videos, please any recommendations, good or bad regarding equipment or videotaping techniques. Thanks.

We're getting more roundabouts out here in the Pacific Northwest. I like them! They beat the tar out of the four-way stops they replace. You'd be amazed (maybe not) at the stupidity displayed at the traditional four-ways with people trying to figure out how they work. Throw them into the new-fangled roundabouts, and it's a full-on circus.

Very nice video! I like the way the rear mount from your helmet picks up the exhaust note.

If you care about your $100-500 camera, and it has a fitting or attachment for some "tethering lanyard" variant, it would be wise to use it, in the event the mounting system fails for whatever reason. Just sayin' because I know of at least one friend that lost his new GoPro on the first outing, and in hindsight certainly wished it were tethered to his helmet dangling there rather than smashed to pieces on terra firma.

I have a tether when using the suction mount.

I don't have a tether on the helmet mount. The helmet surface was cleaned first and then the adhesive was allowed to set. The instruction say to wait 24 hrs. I'm not sure if your friend took all of those steps.

I have dunstall decibel mufflers on my 750, and it sounds nothing like your bike. In fact, my bike is very loud to the point where I don't hear much of the other mechanical noises of the engine unless I put my ear down near the head. My bike sounds like a boxer hitting a speed bag HARD. (it sounds really good to me) Is there any performance differences related to quieter/louder exhaust systems?

* My bike runs really well as it is, but I just always wonder about how well much quieter nortons run.

Comments please. thanks

The quality of the video before it gets transcoded for YouTube is outstanding.

I have a RAM suction mount. It's way more sturdy and adaptable than the GoPro version. If you're familiar with RAM products you know how good they are.

Tips:

Mix up the camera angles. Nothing is worst than a single camera angle... except a single camera angle of endless miles of road. Which means that you should edit down to just the interesting stuff. My rule is no more than 30 secs of a scene, such as riding down a road. Keep the camera rolling when you get off the bikes. Those parts will be more entertaining that the scenery. Get the biggest card you can afford. Get extra batteries, the aftermarket ones on Amazon (Smatree and Wasabli) are reportedly as good or better than the GoPro ones and half the cost. You can get a huge kit of various mounts for almost nothing, you can never have too many options. Try them all.

Dunstalls sound amazing but I bet the mufflers have the least to do as to how well a bike runs.

I'm not sure if I'd trust JB Weld in that application.

The one nice thing about the GoPro is the massive accessory market.

To give you an idea of how good the sticky GoPro mounts are I pull on the helmet mount and you could see the helmet shell deflect and the mount held.

Dave, which model of GoPro is this?

Glen

Hero4 Silver. The built in screen makes it so much more useful, even as small as it is. Plus you can use your smartphone or tablet as a secondary screen too. If you see in the video I'm looking a the phone to confirm my shot of myself.

Dave, so you are riding an obsolete motorcycle with a miniatur camera transmitting your video image wirelessly to your phone... Oh, the irony...

That's OK' I have a GPS mounted on my 47 Vincent. The fellows in England thought this was hilarious.
Especially one Dairy farmer whose farm yard we rode into. He came out of the barn smiling and asked where we were headed. I told him that the GPS showed a road through his barn and a bridge over the creek behind it.
He had a good laugh at that. " The barn is about 120 years old, but there was a road and bridge here about 150 years ago"
Perhaps I need to pay TomTom for a map update says I
