I am into the nitty gritty of the '74 Norton I picked up awhile ago. The original owner made a lot of modifications and really did not seem to know what he was doing. He cut the wires off the right hand switch cluster on the handlebar a few inches out and then cut it off under the gas tank leaving a few inches attached to the main harness. I have disassembled the switch cluster and scraped all the corrosion off and polished it up fairly well. I cleaned up the contacts with a brass wire bush and then soaked the whole shebang in lemon juice to clean up the rest of the corrosion. I ordered new wire from British Wiring up in PA along with all the correct bullet connectors. I removed the old wires from the switch and soldered new ones in place. Now I have two questions.

1. How long should the right hand wire harness be? The left hand one is about 28 inches. I assume this is good.

2. Where can I find some gray heat shrink to finish off the harness? It needs to be flexible.

I'll try to load some pictures.

Have you tried it? Looks too silvery and shiny.

NASAman... The stock sleeving is not heat shrink. I don't know of any heat shrink that will remain flexible. You can buy gray sheathed cable with any number of conductors. (from Mouser or someplace like Alpha Wire) But you'd have to start all over again!
