The seat on my 72 Combat Roadster looks to have a home made base with a later style 850 cover and a very hard foam insert. I'm looking a getting a new seat either from the US or UK. Are some seats better than others? Any feedback appreciated.

I just spent several months "tyre kicking" and quizzing suppliers form reputed dealers to EBay

I eventually settled for a Wassell from Les Emery and the Norvil Shop. Superb ! And a nice price too ~ by comparison ~

+1 on that. I contacted Andover Norton and they could do a seat for 131 quid and 85 post .....might have to move fast before the New Zealand shekal drops more....

R k Leighton manufacture seats and covers for other retailers, i got a cover from them for my 70 and am happy with it. Wassell i beleive are a wholesaler and i beleive other companies manfacture in bulk for them. The seat picture posted is a 850, from memory the 71-72 seats were fluted.

Ugh did I leave a permanent smear here? Guess i'm just trying to make up for not riding again as too procrastinating too peer into Trixie's rear end to order parts till today. But hey there's always the lawnmower to fix up again before using. I'm hemming hawing on ordering, then trying to recover a roadster seat that's still ok as long as the black magic marker covers up the many hot glue repairs. Redoing a seat is the last item on a C'do I've not yet suffered through. Best wishes on satisfaction in reproduction.

Had heard good things about RK Leighton so bought a fastback seat from that vendor. Excellent quality, look and fit. My '72 roadster had an aftermarket cover that wasn't quite like original, so eventually found a bought a good used original cover. After market have too many pleats. Original '71-'72 roadster seats have 14 whole pleats with a partial at front and rear.
