Repro Seats

I know its been covered but...
Local mail order British Bike shop has these

made by PP Seats in the UK http://www.ppseat.co.uk/
They do one for my 72 Roadster thats just the pleated top.
anyone bought one?
Price is good $340 NZ + $15 post( 289 US) vs the shipping costs from either the UK or US.
I might have to be the site guinea pig ( are we allowed to say that any more :lol: )

Depends if you are talking to an Italian or not.

RGM has them for $149 UK

The seams on the sides are non standard. Most aftermarket covers have them. These guys have the good stuff, easy shipping. http://www.rk-leighton.co.uk/page1/page1.html

Just call Tim and go see it if he has it in (or one of their other seats made by the same mfgr). He is a good guy and right down by Western Springs.

Have had 2 seats and a cover from RK Leighton, highly recommended.

Was one of the seats you purchased for the fastback ?
Leighton's did a seat for my TR6, the price was very good, that good that the seat was better than expected (for the cost)
I had been thinking of getting one for the fastback off them although the exchange rate has gone pear shaped for now.

The first pic looks like the one on my Mk2a ( I think) , it might also be original, will go out and have a look.

Mine is a 72 Roadster and I think this is the pattern I'm after ( picture stolen off this forum...)

are there different amounts of pleats and grab straps for different years?

I'm getting fussy on seats in my old age, my BMW ones are great, the two Norton seats I have are not. I tend to like some feedback as I'm getting for Leightons.
I was going to fill in my NOC application today, we might have to catch up and talk Nortons, I'm just in Onehunga.

Hi Alan, how does your wife like riding on the back. are they comfortable. I have had a response from Leightons, 30.00 GB pounds fro the foam rubber cushion plus freight. I think I will give it a go. Nice collection of bike you have there. Might see you at the next rally. Dereck

Hi john, if you are after a bit more comfort , but want to retain the original seat cover & look, I chopped about 1 1/2 " out of the front of the original foam block, filled that space with a little less height of after market foam, then took the gel pack out of seat cover designed for m/bikes , put the gel pack in the void then covered it with a new original look a like cover
No more numb bum after the long rides!!! and still ,looks original.
I got my seat cover off Tim Beereport at Brit MC Spares in Auckland, same vendor as you show. Seat cover is excellent quality

I bought a P&P cover, it will never fit but the trim and clips were useful if an expensive way to buy them

Hi Guys in response no the seat on my fastback was on it when I purchased it 3 or 4 years ago and as wifey and I are both slightly over weight she does not find the fastback confortable. not a problem as she is happy on the back of either of the others. the seats I purchased from Leightons were for my 650SS and model 7 and the cover for my S.

I know what best seat going feels like and I ain't giving it up d/t planned Iron Butts and just lazy commutes over rough stuff.

Pre-no name Combat after a few weeks crossing THE Gravel and few years before hobot'd Roadholders. I really thought of Commando as poor man's touring Harley sounding mimic back then. The back rest was part of luggage rack, not a sissy bar !

After several attempts to fax my cc details to Leightons turns out they have a new fax number.

My seat is now being made.
I can just see it now in my minds eye being made....

I got this made from a guy in the east, we had only txt and briefly spoke on the phone. When we me up to get seat and pay ,he was an ageing punk with bits of metal in his face. But the seat is great and very comfy .

The first picture on page 1 looks exactly like what's on my 75 MK3 except the seat frame is missing the hinge on the left side.
