Rear wheel Lock Up

I have a quick Vincent story from the past. In Houston, Texas around 1960 maybe, I was at a strip mall early one morning with my buddy. This black lump of a motorcycle appeared and it had badging indicating it was a Vincent Shadow. I was just a young guy and had never seen such a machine. The fellow riding it was a true mechanic rider as I recall. As there were little to no cars in the parking area, he proceeded to make runs back and forth. The roar from the engine was tremendous and he smoked the rear wheel. On about the 2nd or 3rd run we heard a loud bang and the rear wheel locked up. The bike skidded for what seemed like a mile and left a long mark. The rider was visibly shaken by the ride. It turned out that he snapped the drive chain and it locked up the rear wheel. This was on Stellalink Road. Maybe one of you know of the machine in question or who the rider was. It certainly impressed me as at that time we were running motorized 26" Schwinn bikes or Western Flyer Doodlebugs. End of story.
