When I spin my rear wheel, the master-link hits the inner primary case.I put the clip on the other side and it goes away.
Case is properly shimmed at the center stud
Primary chain is in proper alignment with both sprockets
Clip on main-shaft is new and installed correctly
Countershaft sprocket and spacer on correctly and proper torque
Standard chain
All this hhas been recently installed and I dont know why it is hitting. Thanks for any help

A lot of people seem to have this problem. Check me if I'm wrong here, but the gearbox is bolted to the cradle is bolted to the engine, the engine is bolted to the inner primary (some use gaskets some do not). So the dimension from the gearbox (sprocket) to the inner primary is pretty much fixed. Check that you have a thick washer on the left of the top gearbox mounting bolt inside the cradle, next to the gearbox. Item 34 here http://www.oldbritts.com/1971_g5.html

DomiRacer sells a nice thick rubber gasket that is thicker than the paper one on the crank case to inner cover. That may space it out a bit more. Make sure the inner cover is not pulled in because of a spacer lacking on the center standoff from the cradle stud mount.

Loosen everything, pry the sprocket away from the inner cover and tighten everything back up? Never tried it. Something could be bent too, or the sprocket not mounted on the counter shaft correctly (too many shims?).

Just my thoughts. Your mileage may vary. I wave my right to further consecutive interpretation.

Hi Ying,

With chain touching primary I would assume that you have adequate space behind clutch to inner primary therefore just add two gaskets between inner primary and crankcase to gain some extra space.
