Unless China changes its behavour we could be facing something similar again at any time. They need to accept responsibilty for their actions and Devious behaviour in concealing the virus escape from their Lab which had to have occured 6 months before the official statements in March 2020, I had covid in 2019 ,caught in England . The Chinese innability to cope with " loss of face " is a major weakness that they are blind to.
Totalitarians never tell the truth unless it makes them look good. I think we've seen enough of that here in the US to verify.

Well had just a telephone call to tell us that in a few days we can get the jab. At this point might as well just do it and let the chips fall where they may. However I do wonder when it takes effect on a nationwide scale so we can be released from house arrest.
Time will tell.

Just as violence breeds violence, totalitarianism breed totalitarianism. However we live in democracies where common decency prevails. The rise of fascism in America has probably been fuelled more by economic hardship than it has by Trump - he just enabled the protest. The underlying problem is probably still there - wealth inequities ?.

In totalitarianism there are two competing ideologies - fascism and communism. Both are based upon the teachings of the German philosophers - Hegel and Kant. In both ideologies, the theory is the individual is subservient to the state. In a democracy, the individual IS the state, and collectivism is normal. Authority comes from the vote.

The thing is, here the people that could benefit from the democracy are the last to support it. They've been brainwashed by that guy OZ sent us, Murdoch. I wish we could sue him to oblivion. My brother even believes that crap, he actually told me no one had died from the virus, and then his wife said the deaths here are normal flu deaths, I know he listens to that Murdoch channel. I don't talk to him much, he always was a bully and then he turned 'evangelical'. I guess that goes hand in hand?

The last day has been encouraging. At least there's a plan in the hopper and people are starting to talk in whole sentences that actually make sense. Fauchi has been released to speak his mind. But it's still going to be next year until we reach even vaccine herd immunity or is that 'herd mentality'? Don't get me going.

Not quite Ash. We only drink PROPER beer warm...
But Brit kids drink Fosters chilled (as I discovered walking the dogs this morning)...

Well they are locking up protesters in Russia in -50 temps

Ha, I wonder what they are protesting about, over here just now, if you go for a walk with a takeout coffee, then it is classed as a picnic and attracts a £200 fine. go figure.

Don’t get me started Ralph!

We have police here issuing fines because THEY THINK that someone’s actions are not ‘in the spirit of’ govt guidelines etc.

That‘s not their bloody job! Its their job to ENFORCE THE LAW and deal with those who break it. It’s not their job to decide on the spirit of things.

Then the chief copper comes on tv defending his men by saying ‘the laws and guidelines are complex’. That is not a defence. We are innocent until proven guilty, NOT the other way around, if the copper isn’t sure, if it’s not clear that a law has been broken, he doesn’t prosecute. Period!

Dozens of other similar stories.

They only dropped the charge cos it was all over the news!

IMHO the PM did nothing wrong. The ‘excessive locally’ bit is to stop everyone driving hundreds of miles to Snowdonia etc, not to stop people travelling to a nearby park.

That’s not the opinion of the boss of London coppers though, who said that in her opinion ‘local means stepping out of your front door to exercise’ !

The police moan about being overworked whilst creating their own overwork by interpreting things in a ridiculous draconian way.

But they don't think the rules apply to them.

Since when is going from no 10/11 to the North end of London classed as local.
The PM could do 10 laps of Hyde Park as his daily exercise , now that is local.
