National Public Radio reported:

The results for both vaccines come from interim analyses of large clinical studies. In the Moderna study there were 30,000 volunteers. Half got two doses of the vaccine 28 days apart, half got two shots of a placebo on the same schedule.

Both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines use the same technology to make their vaccines. It’s based on a molecule known as mRNA, or messenger RNA. That molecule contains genetic instructions for making proteins inside cells.
The federal Operation Warp Speed project to hasten development of COVID-19 vaccines awarded Moderna a $1.5 billion contract in August to ramp up manufacturing and deliver 100 million vaccine doses, enough for 50 million people. The government has an option to buy up to 400 million more doses.
Moderna said Monday that it expects to be able to ship about 20 million vaccine doses in the U.S. by the end of 2020. Next year, the company said it expects to be able to make 500 million to 1 billion doses worldwide.

My brother called me on my birthday last week to wish me happy birthday. And then he told me that no one has died from the virus. Then his wife chimes in saying that 250,000 deaths are normal. I told him, excuse me but you called right when we put dinner on the table and hung up without saying bye. I may never talk to him again. My uncle believed the birther conspiracy and sharia law takeover, my wife's cousin thinks the earth is the center of the universe, I keep thinking about asking him about progression and regression. Or maybe giving him my book on the Great Flying Spaghetti Monster. These are people with advanced degrees. Oh, well. I'm outta here, I gotta mow some 20 acre fields now that the tractor is working. I may need some more pills to get to sleep tonight.

I feel for you, Dog. Like they say, you can pick your friends and you can pick your nose, but you cant pick your family.

Your brother has been your brother your whole life Dog, and will be for the rest of your life.

You ‘may never talk to him again’ because you disagree about this! Really? Can‘t you just tell him you think he’s wrong, and agree to disagree ??

Facts are not political
I'm sorry. I think you misunderstood me. I didn't mean to sound judgmental. Just lamenting the way these things divide us. I sympathize with Dog.I have a sister who hasn't spoken to me in years. Life is too short.

I agree with ya Bill. In times like these, family is more important than ever, even if they drive you up a wall.

Sometimes we'd all be better off keeping our mouths shut.

And not texting something that comes out sounding completely different than you meant. Sorry again.

No need to apologise Bill!
I'm just speaking generally, not directed at you or anyone else.

I hear ya. Got so wrapped up in my train of thought, didn't realize how it would appear in context with the other posts.

I never did like my brother and I hardly speak to him anyhow. He was 2 years older than me and always teased and beat on me. One day I threw a pair of scissors at him, I was probably 16. I've tried talking to these people that believe political beliefs are better than reality. I just haven't got time for them any more. I've got plenty of other stuff to do that doesn't irritate me. At 77 there's not that much longer anyhow. If I'd have known the US was going to get like this, I'd have left a long time ago when I had an opportunity.

Further to the above, not sure anything endorsed by Jeremy Hunt is a good thing, but the the line: 'Those who comply...' smacks of bad 'B' movies...

My racer buddy says it's the Zombie Apocalypse; millions of otherwise normal, intelligent hard-working folks going suddenly brain-dead.
