I believe that we in Australia and New Zealand have a different attitude to our people dying. It might be because our population is so much smaller. In wartime Americans seem to be more ready to accept high losses. It is a different way of thinking. I cannot get my head around the size of American cities and their country as a whole.

Given that we are the third largest population (behind China and India) that's not surprising. When things get to the scale they are here you can't save everyone.

The older I become, the more cynical (miserable?) I become... Having just read yesterday the new list of 'lockdown' laws we're expected to adhere to in the UK, I now see the 'requests' for visitors that were not due to be implemented for another week are likely to be scrapped.....
I'm beginning to feel put upon, somewhat....

Those protests/riots in America seem to have our Australian politicians shaking in their boots. There are implications for Australia's defence situation and our relationship with China. I think Covid 19 has given everyone a different perspective on life.

And about time . America is a bull in a china shop. And china is a snake in the grass.

Something to chew on, before we had the virus in early Jan,I was strong enough to swim 90% of a full length public swimming pool UNDER WATER. Now 5 months on I can not dig a hole for a pot plant without running out of breath. I did not need oxygen to recover so lungs only partly affected. I understand that lungs will not repair , God help me if I'm not now immune. Another bout will finish me off in a flash.

I had pneumonia about 15 yrs ago....put me on my back for nearly 2 months. Lost something like 12 lbs body weight in the first few weeks from the all the fever & chills. This leaves scar tissue in the lungs and capacity never fully returns to previous. I can see how this is a big killer of the elderly and compromised folks.

In the news USA survivor gets a medical bill for a million bucks.
Asinine.

“I feel guilty about surviving,” he says. “There’s a sense of ‘why me?’ Why did I deserve all this? Looking at the incredible cost of it all definitely adds to that survivor’s guilt.”

Grr... how stupid is it not to test every damned new entrant right now?
It beggars belief. When all was going well Cindy was front and centre saying I have decided, she seems to be ducking for cover and leaving "officials" to wear it now.
