There are no effective viral handwashes to be bought in the shops ,what is to be found work only on bacteria. Thinking of topping up our bottles when half empty with vodka or rum ,for the alcohol content. Could work , the government seem right out of ideas. Wedge the public loo doors open, no need to touch then.
Re ; "wedge the public loo doors open"

Just like Japan, there are no doors there!

Alcohol disinfects by way of dehydration which primarily works best on bacteria (who's membranes which are sensitive to dehydration). Normally 70% ethanol is used for surface disinfection of bacteria. Most consumer hand washing fluid agents are alcohol-based. While not viral-cidal, they can help by doing a thorough cleaning of the skin, esp when soap and water is not readily available.

In a lab I once worked at, they used vapourized hydrogen peroxide to fog down equipment (anything with solid surfaces and electrical/computers etc) being moved in to sterile environments (to protect the lab animals within which had compromised immune systems). Treatment was for several hours overnight. VHP leaves no residues and works by oxidizing biological materials.

It looks like some mechanics need a VHP as they share their tools around never mind breathing the same air as someone who might have concovirus to pass on to you...............

Thanks for the info Slick. I'm headed to Isla Mujeres the end of March, so my plan now is to stick to Dos Equis. I tried Tecate the last time down there but between the two I'd rather have the virus.

which one STD or . . . . .( Joke!) :)

The study found that the high nitrous and carbon monoxides released by vintage bike exhausts is responsible for viral-cidal effects. Some further work has also implicated the EMI emitted from older non-shielded ignition systems which imparts an electrostatic charge to viral particles, making them more fragile.

By that logic wouldn't smoking cigarettes also kill the virus.
Ah, now I see how it works.
Go for a ride on your vintage motorcycle, stop and buy a pack of cigarettes.
Yeah, it does makes sense now.

We in the United States need not worry about Coronavirus. We have a partial border wall on the US/Mex border. No doubt, if you contract the virus you can go to the border and lick the wall for the miracle cure Trump is touting. I’m waiting for Trump to rename the virus: Obamavirus.

The stock market is in free fall, Seattle is all but closed, New Jersey about to close public schools statewide. The goal of having 1,000,000 virus test kits available by the end of the week has fallen just a wee bit short, 75,000 available as of today. The best the president can do is tell you to go to work even if you feel sick. The POTUS is a lying POS.

For those times when I can't be riding I was thinking of rigging up an electric motor to a lucas K2f mag in a carrying case for the EMI field.

I don’t know whether Trump knows how serious this CORONAVIRUS and is lying (most probable) or doesn’t actually understand the severity. Either way we are really in the shit tank.

Heard the Donald asking the heads of various bio-pharma companies if we could just use the flu vaccine to fight Coronavirus. They then had to explain to him that no, influenza vaccines would have no affect whatsoever on Coronavirus. This is middle-school biology class knowledge needing to be explained to the leader of the free world folks!

I would like to ask those who voted for Trump if they still think he was a better choice than Hillary?

That will be the next thing, some dust up with some country he believes is an enemy. Especially if that country were to belittle him. Anything to divert attention from how incompetent and how much a dunce he is.
If Trump had two brains, one would be the size of a BB, the other would be an itty bitty one.

Vancouver has just today reported first case of likely community transmission...unknown source of infection, no recent travels. This is just a few miles from where I live.

What has been the Canadian government’s response to the CORONAVIRUS?

Basically following WHO guidelines. Not banning flights but are asking those coming in from hot spots to self isolate at home and these are monitored at local level. Positive cases are quarantined. Unlike USA, anyone can seek medical attention without worry of financial or fear of INS repercussions.
Today finance minister announced budget funds to be available for businesses and individuals being directly impacted.
We hear almost everyday directly from the top medical officials and this is not a politician filtering the facts.
