Yep....... that's a chopper alright!
It looks like you are going to have to keep a firm grip on the bars to keep from sliding off of the back of the seat.

First thing I thought too!

OMG Ian, a hard tail extended twisted bar springered foot forward ape hangered solo seat righteous Commando engined Chopper, Wowwee, i love it but might as well put a "throw eggs" sign on it to show that thing to this forums shooting it down. Regardless of its world wide travels and tough travails to configure, your efforts will upset many Nortoneers, but then that's sort of half the fun besides feeling like King of the road bad ass devil may dare mood. Please also post it on my "Commando Choppers Please" thread as example to admire or abhor, especially so with its lip stick red rims :D

Only slide a little, the coccyx contacting the fender will preclude complete posterior disengagement.

I like the way it looks, but I'm thinking the hand shift and throttle on the same side will take a bit of getting used to

Maybe a stronger spring to counteract the 2' lever? :?:

unless you had the clutch lever on the shifter? or foot clutch
but point taken - I probably didn't think it through.

Just occurred to me how to get a real world appeal survey, have a cafe and chopper sytle Commando at public gathering next to each other with a sign for gals to please sit on to see how it fits and feels, then record which one gets
sat on first of most. Can also keep track of the guys voting with their seats too. I don't have sense of self worth enough to ride around on lipstick rims, so way to go hauling that ballsy attitude around town and beyond, which looks rather comfortable if a back rest sissy bar added.

got to look at it again on the Cdo Chopper area and dang it really affects me
in wonderful ambiguous ways, sort of like seeing a gal uncovered by accident and not looking away as a proper Cafe'd Norton gentlemen would. About only thing that distracts from it for me is the dull black oil tank face, which I'd paint another red rim around maybe to frame a red lip stick kiss decal in the middle. I know it will leap ahead on clutch drop w/o wheel and bet it can lean way over and corner surprisingly well. Women often like to get together with bad boys but only want to live with the milk toasts, often over same interval...

I like the cool look

but I suspect you are not going to be able to live with the awkwardness of your shifting set up

by the look of it you are going to have to take your right hand off the throttle to get to the shift lever

this will drop the rpms and make the transition off the shift lever back to the throttle jerky

in traffic this will be happening

just my opinion, but I think it is dangerous and needs to be seriously reconsidered

Well, me likes it moocho too :D not to "hijack" your thread ... but I like so much I'm considering puttin' on my 6" over forks I got stored in the basement ... on my "hi-rider" below. Converted it from Interstate trim last month, to the unloved red-headed step child of Nortondom. What do ya think Steve ???

OMG norti, you might as well pasted throw rotten eggs sign on me letting on I influenced you to recreate what looks like a turmor that needs removing badly and quickly.... There is no more devil may care balls too big to contain brazen statement of off the wall just because ya can, than riding around on a real HyRyder. Its would steal the show at any chopper show , go try it and see.

The bars and sissy bar are the styles I grew up with and its still a nice Commando so go air your pits and let me know how it handles. Peel gets long horn handle bars more like the big ole Indian Chiefs so not cafe, not chopper, a latino low rider no one else would want.

" What do ya think "

was going to post pictures of Gallows , Stocks , & Rack . To get the Idea Across . Found one of a Guilloteen though ! .

ANYWAY ; the hairy wide bars , if you find a braced rideing position , allow you to develop delicacy of controll ,
leant over negotiateing rippled roads and undulations . The necesity to NOT Grip Them , just finger tip sensitivity
educates you as to the fork reaction to the road surface & undulations . Therefore when you fit ' proper ' Bars
later . Youre Rideing is Improved . :D

You could probably fit handle bar streamers to enhance this effect . :P

Raiseing the Front 6 in. would throw the center of gravity up , negateing the Famous ' Lean Weight ' aspect .

Project Chobber - (practically) FINISHED!

also the bizzare geometry will make it teetery & can lead to tears , leant over - brakeing . In a emergancy . :(

Love it Ian! Gorrrgeous! Honestly though, that seat worries me a little. I'd probably need some sort of velcro attachment
