I am almost complete with the color/colour rendition of the Pre-1971 Wiring Diagram, all models. As I looked over the original, I came up with 3 questions, posted as Notes in the attached file. If any of you Pre-1971 Commando owners can answer these 3 issues, I would appreciate it so I can close this effort and get on to the next, 1972 Onward.

1. Wire starts at Ignition SW as a White-Brown and ends at Lighting SW as White-Green. What is it really?
2. This line runs from the Zener Diode to what appears to be the ground as indicated. If some on can verify that it does, I will indicate so in this diagram.
3. What color wire is normally used on Pre-1971 Commando ground?

This document will be available when completed at no cost, just PM me if you want a larger version or want it in different formats

1. The White/Green nomenclature is a mistake. Mine is White/Brown at the switch on terminal 4.
2. There is no wire from the zener to ground, the zener is mounted directly to the Z plate, but there is a wire coming off that earth terminal, I forget where it goes.
3. Red (Earth or +)

I think there's another mistake in the color somewhere, but I forget. The diagram is deceptive because it doesn't separate out the harness to the handle bar switch. I have a drawing if you want it. I also have a drawing of what's in the headlamp shell that may be helpful.

edit:
I can't read the little pic you supplied. Notice too that there are plug and sockets for the tail and stop lamp, but they have not included the plugs and sockets for lots of other things, like the front brake switch and the switch harness as described above. The whole thing could be cleaned up and made useable, but the basic diagram will get you to problems if they occur. Notice too the ignition switch does not shut off a lot of stuff, it's always hot. I take the fuse out when I put it up even for a day.

If you can figure out where the original ground was around the coil area, I'd like to know, I've seen various options and that may be the way it is anyhow. I put mine on the brackets that mounted the condensers which I don't have any more because of Pazon.

Dave,
Thanks, do you mind if I clean up the data you provided and include in my drawings?

Chuck, do what you like with them. A note of origin would be nice.

Dave,
I will PM you each piece you have provided and only release what you approve.

Thanks
Chuck

No need to get that involved, just mention that I helped. I'm not looking for stardom or royalties. Glad to help.
