postage from UK to Australia

Just testing the water here. Looking at buying a set Amal premiers for my 1969 S from RGM who want 70 quid for postage. I've checked with Royal Mail and the weight is under 2kg costing 25 pound for postage with insurance coverage for up to 250 quid.
Can a UK member please verify this for me, thanks David
 
Just received small package from Andover to New Zealand, 138.20 Pound total, cost 23.60 pound freight a small item mainly nuts and bolts, looking at my visa cost me $290.41 NZD Total, Freight cost $49.58 NZD yes it hurts.

I'm sure someone else will confirm correctly but from what I understand . Royal mail now only ship very small parcels.
ParcelForce ship the bigger parcels and probably a lot quicker than Royal Mail. I would say RGM are shipping all their parcels with ParcelForce which is probably more costly than Royal Mail
 
I am sure you can do better than that, RGM seemed to have a rubber stamp £50 charge when I have purchased off them.

Amal UK charged me £231 plus £50 post for a pair of 30mm Premiers for my 1971 Fastback.
The Amal box with carburettors had a weight of 1.991 kgs so it might have been over 2 kgs ready to post.

They also have a refund stamp as well . Bought a bunch of nuts bolts etc. 50 pound postage to start with then a 30 pound refund plus an RGM norton t- shirt . You won't get that from the other crowd
 
The RGM site has a 50 pound postage as standard but they only charge the actual postage and they always refund the difference
 
I’ve been getting a lot of my AN products through a local (Road n Race) agent. They buy products in bulk and although the primary cost of the item is more than checking prices on line, the local postage works out the same or cheaper than me ordering direct. Added bonus is that the parts arrive in 2 - 3 days. Even bigger bonus is I support an Australian business.
 
When I but bits from RGM, there is an outrageous Royal Mail amount. RGM prompty refunds the overcharge. Jolly good chaps
 
If you purchase the carbs in the US the Priority Mail shipping would be about $65 USD (Medium Flat Rate box). Good for a sanity check, if nothing more.
