Hi all
As I want to fit Nippon Denso iridium plugs, these unfortunately only come as 5 ohm resistor variety...
As you can't fit resistor plugs & caps together, can I have some ideas on who makes & supplies motorcycle Non resistor caps.???
As iridium resistor plugs are videly available and everywhere mostly only supply resistor plug caps.. what are people doing about this????.. running plug & caps with resistors???

Oooooooops....;)
But then agian we live in a strange world ...Actresses used to be refered to as such.... Now every one is a actor????

Be that as it may... none of that is likely to stop Esme giving you a thick ear...

Have to admit I have NGK iridium plugs (there... it's out now!) but as a part time/casual rider, to what advantage I don't know? But it sounds good, no?

And yes, strange world indeed. Didn't realise I now have 'personal space' and emotional, mental and physical welfare 'rights'. Upset/mock these at your peril, and bring a good solicitor! (though if you buy me a pint we'll say no more :))

Lawnmower and boat shops usually carry the "sparky" brand of plug cap. These fit tightly on the plug and are waterproof. Popular with the enduro riders in the Jersey pines.

been around for 60 years + .
Sparkys were even fitted to new Nortons prior to sale at selected dealers.
They dont come with utube video instructions. would this be problem?

Plug Caps

Not sure I agree that resistor plugs and caps cannot be used successfully. There was a NOC article on ignition systems last year discussing all aspects of our systems. Having 10k Ohm vs 5k ohm vs 0 Ohm does not make much difference to the HT voltage according to the maths presented. Also, having more resistance increases the duration/current of the slightly voltage diminished spark I believe. My modern Bonneville has 5K plugs and 5K caps, but it is a higher output ignition coil pack.

FWIW,
some of the hard plastic resistor plug caps can be disassembled, have the resistor removed and replaced with a piece of brass rod or cut off brass screw. Thus making it a non- resistor cap.

I think the main thing to check is the tech details of your ignition. I think modern electronics require whatever is stipulated in their tech sheets, old ignitions would probably handle glo-plugs. Off the top of my head my Ignitech ignition specifies 5k resistor caps or plugs.

NGK supplies caps in both resistor and non-resistor types. Also there are the older style, bakelite Champion caps available in non-resistor. I'd like to find a source for the Champion caps used on the later ('72-up) Commandos. I have found those in red, but not OEM black.

NGK makes the LB01EP (8328) which is just 1000 ohms. Identical to the 5k caps. Still screw-on.
There is a Chinese copy of the NGK called the AUTOHAUX available through amazon. It is not finished well and the rubber parts are bulkier but it is zero ohms and cheaper.
