An neat example of reaching the limits of phase 2 handling, ie: leaned counter steering. See how easy them fatso tires let go and how chassis can't keep the hinged handling under control so have to back off and how riders have to reach down with elbows to show off. That stuff don't work so good when ya really get going ie: up the energy required to transition into next phase, like water into steam. Hehe but that ain't the end of what happens when even more energy added as there are vapor phase and plasma phase and radiant phases of energy states beyond, if the bike and pilot can take it before they expire into virtual vacuum.

Phase 2 to 3 transitions appear in this video. But they wimp out before more than just tasting phase 3 orgasmic delights. Note once a bike is leaned, counter steer is no longer helpful, but if no more energy added straight steering alone don't complete the transition, just slows ya up faster or sharpens turn by trading momentum till a loss of rear contact thrust. pashaw. Look close to see their best chicane dicing is done slightly straight steering. Note how they tend to shoot straight across apexes upright. Too bad sound tract makes them sound like Harleys as the power sense reveals a whole lot about loads on tires/chassis. Heck even HD's are famous for low load dirt tracking, Trick is to keep tires/chassis/engine loaded to the max no let offs or energy escapes back to phase 2 ordinary liquid flow.

These pilots and their rides are really good to watch flowing right up to phase 3 aiming! The chicanes radii are almost as tight as Ozarks and closest OK track. This is what Peel most loves to do and even hotter if you can even imagine a heavy twin doing it. I for one sure couldn't believe it at first either! They are still playing it safe though, notice where they sorta pull up short and pop up or jerk off in another direction - That's them missing opportunity add energy to enter phase 3, straight steering decreasing radii no let off till lifting front in sideways wheelies. They can lean far enough to avoid heels over heads hi sides too. Believe me or not I know these conditions, Ms Peel past 1st in rising torque band on tall ratio 2nd gear with over 21T final ratio, so maybe a 25-33% faster than them. This is where I find 17" meats - pure race slicks included are a big let down to hold the lean loads. But they sure make good use of the corner cripples they got to work with. Can a Commando unicycle drift?

Slow motion details, fascination right to the top of phase 2 handling. Keeps me wide eye'd and groin tight on a sub freezing day off. This is what I call road skiing and try to minimize on Gravel freeways or receive harsh incentive to energize out of crisis to phase 3 'control', next time. These guys are amazing pilots, the main lesion to me is how much the rides are limiting them. Pilots know exactly what the lean, speed, power band and traction are going to do before they do it, so have a blast dancing with each other. I must do that on Peel too, prior to letting our hair out. Lean fouling limits, front skip out limits, rear skip out limits, power spin limits, combo's of two, then 3 then all 4 at once > then feel out fork range limits and then chassis loading oscillation limits, then the ground effects helping/hurting. Note slight wiggles these pilots innately know not to press further, that's phase 3 poking on their wise adrenal fear glands. They can lean far enough but not hot enough to deal with ground effects much. Alas they know their rides so well they stick out a foot, just in case : ) Ain't no room for that on a Commando in ground effects of phase 3 over steering fun. Ugh w/o wiggles or oscillations or lean changes, ugh, so neutral, it tricks an innocent hooligan into next level of crisis handling.
