I put my tank on tonight since I finished with the installation of my throttle and clutch lines and hooked up my electronic ignition. Once I got the tank tightened down I was putting my fuel lines on my petcocks and my main side would not snug up. I took it out and here is what I found:

Petcock Issues

I have emailed the supplier on this and am awaiting their response. Have any of you had this issue before and what do you recommend for future thought??

I had one of those Tiawan copies come to me with the threads crossed and chromed. They don't make'm like they used to,,,,,,,,,
My supplier gave me a replacement.

I was just talking to a guy a couple of days ago about this same problem. I can't remember the maker specifically but what happened is that the unit is cast with the threads in place. It leads to voids or bubbles in that area. He said he used very little pressure on the lock nut before it gave way on him too.

Ugh!! I don't like the way it is sounding on these petcocks. Supplier said he would exchange for a new one so I will send off tomorrow. Waiting for Matt at CNW to call me next week when he finishes my oil tank, will ask him about it and what he uses! Last thIng I want is a half-a$$Ed petcock to break on me while riding, do not need any ghostrider looking runs! Guess this is what you get for $ 35, will see what Matt says.

Why not fit 1/4 BSP ball valve taps intended for use on things like air compressors? These are pretty much bullet proof and here in the UK are available for £1.49p from Ebay.
