Just some history revisited.

How disappointing. Saw the title and thought the manufacturer of fairings and a microcar had restarted production. Mountain Mile anyone?

It was the Kerowouacian style of prose that had you all so riveted...

Your parents watched ???? ..... I was a faithful viewer ! and yes was thinking SS was making his return , also

When I was in Berlin in the early 60's in the Army, I remember seeing those Messerschmidts, the little cars with the door opening to the front, maybe even 3 wheel, I just don't remember other than seeing them. They were pretty tiny. I used to bike from Lichterfelde to Wannsee, I could probably get there about as fast.

Looking at google maps, it looks like the barracks I lived in on Finkensteinalle are still there including the '32 olympic swimming pool. Looks like some sort of museum now.

Messerscmitts opened as per the aeroplanes they grew from, Heinkel built the three wheeled 'bubble' cars with the opening front. Also made (under license?) by Trojan, my eldest sister's first car....

I think the BMW Isetta was probably more common than the Heinkel, especially in Germany. Similar shape but the steering wheel in the BMW swung outward wtth the door, I remember working on one in the mid 1960s same engine as the 250cc bike.

I was disappointed too... I thought Steve was back to liven things up...
"a few days ago retrieved Dunstall 'long dong" hollow megaphone and stuck on 2>1 header, instant HOWLLING in delight surprise/annoying wife and macaw at the Buck Rodgers Burt Monroe ray gun rocket like extension - about half a foot beyond rear tire!"

Messerschmidrs has a hinge on the side of the top glass,/perspex cockpit that lifts upwards towards the side. The passenger rides behind the driver whereas the BMW two people sit on a bench seat.
