What is the original finish on the exhaust and rear footpeg hanger plates. Mine are sort of a dull gray but no rust. How would I go about restoring them?

I think it depends on the year/model.

I seem to recall 70 & 72 Roadsters being zinc / cad, 75 MkIII Interstate chrome...

Originally these are zinc platted. You can get them re-platted
I have S/S for ease of care and it doesn't oxidize.
Cheers,
Thomas

From AN: "The original factory drawings for these plates specify ‘satin chrome’. This is the finish we supply and they have a dull, not polished, appearance."

AN ones are really rough, they have a finish almost like sand cast!

Stainless ones are a no brainer IMHO.

Once I bought the new set from AN, I decided to have both sets chromed since I didnt like the SS or the matte finish and they could do both within the minimum cost for doing plating.

Before

After

I would be willing to sell this second set at cost.
