Several of us went out for an early morning ride before it got to hot. Afterwards we were taking some back roads when I noticed the bike had a bit of a hiccup. Had a full tank with fresh fuel, so I was pretty sure fuel wasn't the issue. The next time it happened I was under some trees and I could see the charge light indicator coming on. The interesting thing is that the light only came on when I was at speed and the RPM's were high. At lower speed 45 / 50 no hiccup and the light didn't come on.
The rotor is the only part of a Sparks rotor / stator / rectifier kit I bought years ago that I still have. All the other parts failed and I should have replaced it long ago. I wonder if the rotor is loosing its magnetism?

Don't have time to investigate further until later in the month. Keep you all posted.

first thing that can be quickly checked is the battery actually being charged
-put a voltmeter on the battery terminals and insure the volts go up nicely when rpms raised at idle
- if not start by checking the security of the battery terminal wires
-if still not charging pull the primary cover off and check the alternator wires for fractures
