Due to customer demand and now having additional staff and software that can do it making it possible.
Yes. But you charge 10-20% more for eBay items. And I believe your postage rates to the US are higher than if ordered direct.

And i now see that the Egyptian Government want 9 million Euro to release the ship...
Says a lot about the dollar. They salavadiged the ship so they call the shots.

No, some are only a penny different to Web price, think your are confusing AN with someone else. Postage is actually dictated by Ebad so AN have little control of it and unable to negotiate shipping contracts. That is how Ebad works.

The first item I saw was the NVT decal for the top frame tube.
US$3.04 direct from AN or US$4.33 + US$23.45 post cost off eBay.

Fork assembly.
US$1191.48 direct.
US$1484.27 from eBay but only US$23.45 for shipping.

Ebay is pretty much a rort these days and the fee's are over the top, the AN thought was nice though.

Yes TW. Those are the kind of price differences I was seeing.

eBay is for convenience. You may pay extra for that. eBay certainly charges the vendor to sell stuff there.

Sellers now have to pay eBay 13-15% on sale items and carriage. So regular items have to cost more on eBay. Only bargains still to be had are used items.

That's because the website is ex VAT and Ebad is Inc VAT. Get used to it, even the Chinese websites now add tax, and in the future many countries will do as well.

I've been fighting with myself to stay out of this but I lost.

I started selling on eBay in 2001 - not a lot. In 2013 I became a dealer for Amal and started selling quite a bit. It was fine since I was "Top Rated" and therefore got a 20% discount on fees. Then eBay charged it to 10%. Then they started charging it on the sale and shipping. Then you needed a store (useless) to keep the fees down. So, last year, my fees were running at 8.9% plus $50/month for the store. That's when they made the change I could not stand. They insisted that they handle the money (no more PayPal) and they would change less than PayPal - actually once the program started, it was more than PayPal. I figured I had no choice so I tried to sign up. They would not accept my company's Federal Tax ID, they wanted my Social Security number. I refused. Now I cannot make new listings or change my existing listings, and to delete a listing takes about seven steps and must be done one at a time. I got rid of the store so my eBay fees this year so far at 10.6% (I still use PayPal, 2.9% fee on top of the entire sale). If you add in the $50/month to the fees, I would be at 17.26%! It was always less expensive to buy from me direct but most seemed to like eBay. Also last year, not eBay's fault, but they had to start collecting Sales Tax for the purchaser's state. So, the cost of everything went up over night for most people.

All that said, for most things, eBay sellers were still less expensive than the beloved OldBritts.

So, since this thread somehow made it to the 11th page and it's been all over the place here's goes :

Some here know that there's another way. Some here know it is often possible to for US forum members buy AN products from me for less than you can get them direct from AN. And, if you're not in Virginia, there is no sales tax - you can get AN, Amal, Tri-Spark, Wassell, and others from me for less because I buy in quantity and that saves on shipping. For Amal, Tri-Spark and Wassell, I have true deal accounts and and can save you real money.

Before the regulars jump in, no, I don't use a true shopping cart. Phone calls and email are the way to get the best prices. You can add to cart and get a quote, but then you don't get the forum/club prices.

The world is rapidly moving toward online convenience. "If you can show me what you got and you make it easy I will order it from you." This is the eBay and Amazon mentality we've been trained on.

While the Old Britts site wasn't perfect (mostly the cart was a little crude) you mostly knew how to find a part, immediately knew the availability and with a couple clicks could get an order. And you could do it any time of day and from anywhere in the world.

And for a lot of people the convenience outweighs the cost. If I have to wait to call someone and find the time to call them it could actually cost me more in just time.

No doubt and on AN and cNw products the savings is small.

On Lucas (Wassell), Amal, and Tri-Spark waiting a little while is probably worthwhile. On my site, if you know the part number or name of the part, you can electronically request a quote in seconds. Or, if you simply send me an email with what you want and mention Access Norton, ONE, or NCNO you'll get better prices and I'll do the leg work - of course, parts numbers make it faster. A PM works too although I eventually need to know your ZIP code and email address so starting with email is better.

I think you'll admit that when you recently ordered that it was pretty smooth.

I answer phone calls, quote requests, and emails seven days a week. Feel free to call between 8am and midnight everyday. If you call and I don't answer, leave a message. This is not all I do!

Hi Madnorton,
My original post was not meant to imply that AN was trying to overcharge customers. I meant only to advise non-UK customers that the prices were lower by ordering direct thru AN.
Is AN not able to sell items on eBay to non-UK customers without charging VAT?

Well I am 70 this morning but I don't feel a day over 69!
...and I blame that on the second jab I got yesterday.
So far no major reaction like last time maybe it was a placebo shot! :)
