Well. 4 day weekend in the UK. So a quick clean I thought and then out. This has changed my mind. Words at this point fail me as it would just be a succession of swearing.

Oh Boy , I am sorry to see that ! Has it gone a all the way around ? A triangular side gusset could be added here and still look good. How is the other side ?

Jeez, thats a shocker, but thank god you noticed it!! It’s such a clean break it almost looks as though it’s been cut.

Do we all need to get our frames X-rayed now?

Other side looks OK but i think I will do both

I did 160 miles last Sunday on it and it obviously happened then Not sure what strain this has put on the rest of the frame

Steel is very forgiving , Just give the frame a good looking over. The shop will be able to pull that crack back together and weld it up.

Stuart Peach has given me the details of a frame company not too far from me and I have already emailed them photos. I may ask them to put a triangular gusset in as well. As it’s a holiday weekend here don’t suppose I will hear anything until Tuesday

The frame shop will have good ideas about the added bracing .

Thats exactly what I was thinking. A gusset similar to the one on the Norton paddock stands....then dip and powdercoat the frame again. If it was me, I'd probably just have the welding done for now, and satin black painted....use it through summer, and if no further concerns, then strip it down and powder coat.

My thoughts exactly.

Heartbreaking
I hate to say this, but I was going to ask Stuart Bodycote the other day when he mentioned about racing his Domi if he’s ever heard of the frames cracking.

I’m sorry to see that you had this happen GLB

I am now less upset than I was. I threw my tools around the garage went upstairs wrapped myself in a duvet and cried myself to sleep. . I have already sent photos to a frame restorer and will get a quick fix until winter when it can go to Stuart Bodycoate for full strip down and rebuild. The most embarrassing thing is telling my friends about it as one of them has documented my breakdowns on video!!!!!!

I can relate to the feelings of something you love and see it not as how you wish. I would of thrown tools too.

Having the frame cracked like that makes me wonder about the heat or temper of the tube. That break is so clean it looks like a cut in the picture.

As Stu said, having a gusset welded on both sides with the Norton logo or the Norton letter N would look titties.

I’m curious as to who made these frames and what kind of tubing was used and what filler wire was used. My Domi naked is Tig welded, but who knows how well that’s made as well.

When you do strip the bike down, it would be a good idea to sandblast and magnaflux all the other welds before powder coat / paint.

Hi Voodooo. Thanks for the advice. Ive been playing on the computer trying to find a design I like since I’m not riding it.

That is obviously a hate crime against all Nortons around the world.
This person must have his accounts suspended/cancelled immediately!
Or he should at least receive a strongly worded letter to cease and desist such boorish behavior.
