Octane Boosters and Tank Liners

Anyone have experience with the various tank liners and some of the octane boosters available? I have seen some octane boosters eat paint. Kreem states some of their liners "withstands most octane boosters." I wanted to try some of the stronger octane boosters but not at the expense of my tank liners (Kreem and Hirsch). Any suggestions?

Scott,
While not a big fan of liners in general, I have used Caswell in a number of tanks where the customer has requested it. I've heard of no issues thus far, with the oldest job about 4 years ago, maybe 10 jobs in all. Once it hardens, it quite a product, but label directions need to be followed very closely. As for Kreem, always thought it to be garbage and have seen many failures. I've not used Hirsch or any others, so can't comment. Perhaps others will assist there.
Hope that helps a little,

Thanks for the info Brent. I think the one tank actually has that red Caswell in it. It was done by the PO. I've talked to both Hirsch and Caswell and they both say it is okay to use the stronger octane boosters. Although I trust them I also wanted to get everyone's take as well. Thanks.

Caswell calls the red liner "Dragon's Blood" (scary). And they claim it is a stronger formula. My gut however tells me it's just the same clear formula with red pigment added. I've used it and do like it better than the clear simply because you can see if you have everything coated easier.

Yes Brent you are correct about Caswell's "Dragons Blood" being the same stuff just tinted. A friend who buys a lot of their stuff & does lots of tanks actually has two quart cans of powdered "Caswells" pigment. One Yellow, one blue. He puts one in part A & the other in part B mixes them separately very well then precisely measures and mixes correct amounts of each togeather to form a uniform green color. Caswells will sell you the powdered pigment if you ask. And they did tell my friend the stuff they sell colored is the same as the clear..

Interesting. I've had no problem with the Hirsch using octane booster. I haven't used the octane booster in the other bike with Caswell but will see how it holds up over the winter.
