Hi.
Someone knows what the letter means?
Ciao

O (not C) stamped on the head

Ombat??
Seriously though, is it from a 1972 model? Do the intake ports measure 32mm? Can you see evidence of milling the cylinder mounting surface?

Maybe they misplaced the "C" stamp and grabbed the "O" as the next best thing.

Someone on the NOC Forum mentioned all these letters a while back.

It was suggested that it was batch related, or signified some machining operations.
The meanings of which have since been lost (?).

An inspector's stamp?

Slick

That's what I was thinking, or, a worker who had taken someone else's beating for bad parts. Just a SWAG

Should there be a letter there on every head? My RH4 -73 head has no more stamps than just the RH4. Don´t know about the underside yet, will take the head off when I have finished the engine stand. I did find the centre bolt for the head mount was broken off though, yes! Like there´s not enough work to do already....

It may not be a Genuine part SHOCK HORROR! !!
and many would prefer an old worn and possibly porous Genuine to spend a small fortune on. Given this fact and the fact it is defaced by all that random lettering it's probably not worth anything. PM me and I will swap it for a Genuine tried and tested (well tried and tested) at no charge as its nearly Christmas.
