Ordered a set, and there didn't seem to be a provision for mounting a brake light switch in the photo. Curious to see/hear how others have rigged up the light.

Hey Caddy, we seem to be bouncing off each other this season. There are a few ways to skin this cat. Could ya post a photo of example of the rear set and maybe one mounted. You might be able to upgrade your own mod over what was originally done. There is a universal switch that ya hook between two moving points with some adjustment in its resting off length and spring to keep in slight tension. I've got to face this soon adapting mastercylinder to old school LH brake rear sets on Ms Peel, so I'm looking in sites for ideas on another one in a row.

+ 1 with Steve on this. However, if your rear brake is drum and cable operated, ya might checkout "oldbritts" and see the cables they have ... that have the switch in the cable. That may be the route I go on the 850 I'm building. I have rearsets for it too, but no place to put a switch unless I make one.

I don't think you will like the integrated switch. they are VERY fussy to get adjusted and have a spongy feel because of the compression switch and cable routing. if you can find a picture of the left rear of a prody racer it will show that the factory did a switch that was operated from the lever on the brake backing plate. and yes it is different from the standard lever.

I'm going with the in-line cable switch on the current "have it your way" Commando, and the TriTon.

I use the Norvil rear sets on my bike...just use the cable with the in-line switch.

If you take a thin sheet of S.S. cut out a small oval tab. Than drill a hole for the clevis pin at one end and a hole for a small spring end at the other this linkage can allow the use of a pull for on switch.
norvil rearsets, stop light switch???

The link can be seen on the reflection in the aluminum. The switch is just a Hap Jones type cheap easy long lasting you just add one tapped hole a spacer and a bolt.

The pull type seems to be the cleanest easiest route. The cable integrated is kinda fugly and like 50 bucks before shipping. Has anyone mounted a lever type microswitch?

Amend to Bill's summary, especially on, or rather in front brake cable, elastic stretch to over come then terrible to judge braking and fussy fragile to get to work and keep working. YUK.

Pull type is the universal style I was pointing out in the shopping site, but there are a few versions to adapt and most sure long lasting working. I'd almost think a pair of raw wires crossing on peddle motion would work great. Maybe a lead on top of peddle to ground out with toe touch.

Guy I bought it from didn't have any brake light. Rode all around S.F. like that. Im thinkingeither the stock style or a micro limitswitch. The pull type is option c. Don't like the cable deal. Just doesn't look good to me.

Ebay is something all right that switch is about 7.00 locally. I bought some a few years ago for 4.00 They dont seem to fail.

Got my set in the mail today. Installed and aadjusted. Was able to modify the switch I had to work bolted to the lower peg stud. Easy cheesy.

Picture?

I haven't figured out how to post pix from my phone. Sorry. One thing of note about the rear sets is the brakelever is so short that the lack of leverage makes it difficult to engage the brake in any usable manner.
Shifter is very touchy. Definitely need to fine tune things. On a good note, the riding position is way more comfortable for me (6'4") than the stock setup.
If someone wants to pm me their e-mail I can send pix and they can post them for me???
