I am converting my racer to a Norvil double disc set up.
I've noticed the second slider dosen't have a pinch bolt to secure the front wheel spindle.
I assume I need a special Norvil spindle for this conversion that will be clamped between the two sliders.
Do you have to shim the Norvil hub spacers for correct clearance to avoid the front suspension binding?
Any help would be much appreciated.

I have a pair of Dunstall fork sliders and they are the same, no pinch bolt, I dont have the axle but when time comes for me to fit them I expect I'll be using a straight axle and make the spacers accordingly. I would think Norvil would be the same,

It is. Spacers each side. Been running that setup in our racer for the last 15 years.

Hi

Written about this before.
Dont forget a nice file !
When I got mine from Les, it did not spin freely, the floating disc "buttons" touched the fork legs.
I phoned him & he suggested I lock up the floating disc buttons? Even with them locked up it did not clear.
However the last piece of advice was of course!!! that I would have to file the fork legs??????
Yep, pay out a large wedge & then take a file to them!
It works, you cant see the "relief" just upsets me to have to do it.

The original Norvil slider (063547) had a flat machined along the lower portion to clear the disk carrier. If the modern repops don't have that, it would explain the need for the file.

Simple: the real production racers had no loose buttons of floating discs because they had no really floating disc, at least not with today's loose button technology. Why should an original slider accomodate something it was never designed for?
I am pretty certain the same problem would occur with Andover Norton's proddy racer sliders made to the original drawing (see http://www.andover-norton.co.uk/News.htm).
