Norton V4 program

Isn't this V4 that Norton is using is an Aprillia motor or is this a different motor than their racing bike?

It is supposed to be an all new V4 design developed in association with the Aston Martin Company.

It may be the in-house V4 engine that Garner has been talking about. He said early this year that they were only about a year away from having their own design to replace the Aprillia. Of course in normal manufacturer speak, that's probably 3 years at least.

Motor Cycle News in the UK had a bit of a feature on the proposed new 1200 V4 and 650 twin.

I can't recall for sure, but I'm fairly sure Garner said the 1200 would be a low volume circa £50,000 bike.

The 650 ain't gonna be a retro classic unlike some expect, its a super modern thing.

Both bikes sound interesting for sure, buts lets not forget that Garner Norton has zero track record in designing and building bikes from scratch, so there are many potential obstacles in the way here.

I would also say that the £7.5m grant, although it sounds a lot to laypersons like us, ain't gonna go far in the designing, developing and putting into production of two new motorcycles from scratch.

I don't want to sound like a whining old fart here, I think what they're aiming to do is incredibly exciting and I wish them the best of British luck. I just wouldn't start preparing space in your garage for one just yet.

I think Fast Eddie has put it all into perfect perspective here.

The NOC January 2016 Roadholder has an article on the 650 Dominator. Here is the Dominator
SS on the cover .. as Eddie says, it is a super modern thing:
