Norton Fastback Mk1 Side Stand - Will any Commando Side Stand Fit ?

Hi, I have a Mk1 Fastback. The side stand is short, almost stubby. I would like to fit a later commando sidestand that are significantly longer and afford ( IMO ) greater stability to the bike when parked up on the side stand. Kind regards to all - Dave

You can, but not easily. The frame cross tube is in a different spot on the early ('68-'70) frames and if you simply weld on the '71 and later mount the frame tube will be too weak to support it properly. Ideally you would need to weld in a cross tube (AN sells one) to add strength.
