Which particular kit, as there's more than one (Alton, cNw, Old Britts, QPD)?

I have a 1974, 850 Norton Commando with the cNw e-start kit installed. Works perfect! One of the best modifications I have made to my bike.

Cheers, Bryan

There is also the Dreer/VR kit that I've got the original design for.

Tom Reid isn't going to be making them any longer (he just finished the last one for me)...

I've got the cNw electric start kit installed on my '74. What a lifestyle change!!!! Bike starts instantly every time.
The belt drive, Barnett clutch plates and the depth of the new belt wheel provide a very easy clutch lever pull.
I've put 700 miles on it with no problems and never used the kick start since installation.

I have installed 3 Alton kits. The fit and work perfectly and you can keep the original "ham can" air cleaner. The kit looks like it could be factory, doesnt have that primary case bulge like the CNW and you get a highput alternator with the kit to charge the bigger battery.

@Charles Waggett the question was from five years ago, and asked if anyone had any experience with the cNw electric starter.

It didn't ask how many Alton kits did Charles install.

Further to that, the answer you gave is not correct - the stator shipped with the Alton kit is no more powerful than the standard Lucas RM21
gforce, you’re unnecessary reply is actually incorrect. The OG simply asked about a Norton electric starter kit and did not specify which kit. Also the Alton alternator does in fact have a greater output than the early Commandos.
