Hello Norton community.

Just saying hello as a Norton newbie from this coming Friday when I pickup a Dominator Naked in Austin Texas

Hope to keep in touch with y'all as we enjoy the Norton experience

Have arranged to get Rizoma bar end mirrors, megafone, gps tracker (tba), Rizoma indicators, optimate fly lead fitted, reflectors removed before delivery

Still looking for a rear plate tidy to fix that and someone who can put a clear protective film on the whole tank, seat unit etc maybe baffles to drop a few decibels will be on the dyno too to see if PC is needed, and they will set the static and loaded sag when I get there

Anything else I need?

all the best!

Congrats on the Dominator. Check out the "New to 961?" Thread at the top of this page. It'll get you sorted out with the important stuff.Let me know if you can find someone who clearfilms the tank. I've been looking in to that also without any success.

Hello and welcome ! Are you by chance the " Foggy " as in Carl Fogarty motorcycle racer from England ?

Will do on the tank. I did find www.clearcoatscotland.co.uk have done one (see instagram) and Ive asked if they have a template.

Hoping not to have do the laundry list on the 961 page, with it being a 17 bike. Might be being hopeful!

Welcome!!!
I have a 2016 Naked and a 2016 Commando SF.
Since I received my Naked 2 months ago I have not even touched my commando.
I installed the megaphones, brushed aluminum tank, foot controls, CRG lane splitter mirrors myself. I love this bike!
The megaphones sound great!
It literally turns heads lol.

On both of my bikes, I installed the following.
One07 spark plug wires.
One07 battery matt.
Shorai battery.
Bosch Coil.
Ngk iridium spark plugs.
Huge difference over stock, well worth it.

Here’s my Naked.
You do know, there are only 10 world wide Naked Dominators don’t you?
5 in the USA.
Mine was 1 of the first 2 to arrive.
According to Kevin French of Norton.

A guy on Facebook offers clear film for our aluminum tanks. I’ll see if I can find his info.

This is the listing from Facebook.
Foggy is correct it is clearcoatacotland.

Hi Norton owner's . My name is Alex and I own a company called #Clearcoatscotland . I currently developed and apply paint protection film to insure you always have a stone chip and scratch free bike ever again. Hope this is of interest to all you guys out there.

I thik they told me 40 in the world and 7 in the US, but I could be wrong. Ive been looking at the Dominators for over a year, and almost bought one while in LA last year.

The Naked pushed me over the edge when I saw it a couple of weeks ago. Not had a road bike for many years, but this one feels special. Expecting this to be a keeper for me.

So we have to send our tanks to Scotland? Surely theres someone nearer?

Any 3m, MADICO or LLUMAR dealer can point you in the right direction. Its called PPF or Paint Protection Film. I used to tint cars and homes and I have PPF all over my bike including the tank where my jacket would rub and any where stones hit like headlight, forkes and parts of the frame. My rear hump too for the back pack and leg over.

It shrinks on with a slip solution and heat gun. Takes a lot of practice after training, so get someone else to do it. Any vehicle wrap place can do it.

PS Llumar ppf I feel was the better of the three. But it all works.

He covers the whole of the UK but when I mentioned him before on a thread someone in the states also knew of a 'clear coat' provider

First impressions. In love with is beauty. The Rizoma indicators and mirrors were a great choice. The megaphones look way better and sod the noise.

AF1 kindly set the suspension for me too. To start with.

Big twin takes a bit of getting used too. Need to sharpen up the brakes, and adjust the lever, but will see how they bed. May change the pads.

Feels like I need to drop the yokes a few mm to get it to turn quicker. I keep hunting for a final gear but there isn’t one.

Weird getting used to a road bike after more than 15 years off. Cant find the indicator button, cant use the clutch on upshifts. first world problems I like having.

Need a 1/4 turnn throttle too. Too long for me just now.

Loving the new Shoei helmet. Visor optics are great.

Go Norton! This bike grows/growls on you and those are keepers.

You might need the Gold Line Brembos...

I don’t use any tank protector.
But I’m weird.
I never let my knees or body touch the tank.
On my Naked I use WD-40 to wipe down the tank. The beauty with the Naked is it’s brushed finish. A red scrotch brite pad is all that’s needed to remove any light / minor marks in the tank. Just go with the grain and it’s new and perfect again.

On my commando with the polished aluminum tank I use mother’s aliminim polish.
Both tanks are flawless.

I do have Xpel paint protection on other areas of the bikes. Frame, forks, swing arm etc.
I also have xpel on my SHELBY GT350. the stuff is awesome and really protects the paint finish.

Thats what I was looking for, for the tank! Thank you! I couldnt remember what they said re scotch brite. I'm allover the tank, and would have stomp grips fitted if it wouldnt look ugly.

Re your One-07 mods, plugs, coil, what did you notice as different? Got 280 miles in during the first 24 hours and will get the throttle changed, brake lines, at 600 mile service. Cant think battery a must.

Appreciate the steer Voodoo.

Getting used to this bike getting attention when you park up. Mayb its just the noise.
Norton Dominator Naked Newbie Hello

Have had a satin finish paint shield fitted to tank, seat unit, mudguard, forks and leading edge of frame. They did a real good job.

Highly recommend changing the grips, fitting Dunlop Q3 tires, changing front pads to Ferodo Sintergrip, levers for CRG carbon short, and adding a motion pro quick throttle. Those Brembo pads were super wooden.

Bike immediately handles and stops much better with real feeling, while finger span is reduced and leverage must better, vibes are down, and throttle much easier and more responsive. Have softened damping a couple of clicks as I had it too harsh. Way better bike for me.

Have left steering angle alone just now as discovered only had 22 psi in front tire yesterday, and that was more likely why it was struggling to turn. See how it feels first but may raise forks through yokes 8-10mm yet.

I do need the crankcase breather kit though, and that’s on order now.

650 miles in. 170mile ride home tomorrow Getting it close to where I want it.
