No, I think it's the folks in India/Pakistan who have been making the replica tanks, etc.

Not so much spam as direct marketing.

If it gets out of hand, then action will be taken.

High quality tin ware????

Yeah, right. I've got a Indian repro Fastback rear number plate / tail light bracket that came out of the box, and 30 seconds later went in to the trash can.

YOU BUY CHEAP YOU BUY TWICE

Where do you think the repro stuff (both high and low end) comes from? Dapper ol' English men huddled away in a shed? It's made wherever it can be for the price people are willing to pay.

The $400-500 repro fuel tanks you see may need a little work but if you need a tank badly enough it may not be a bad choice. Not like you can pop over to the local dealer anymore. And used ones are just as much a crap shoot.

I could not agree more!

Well I'll go with Mick on this one, The tanks coming out of Pakistan are total trash! I have one sitting on the garage floor that I paid good money for that kinda looks like a roadster tank, (In the dark) It was covered with a tar like crap that took days to remove. And it was on the inside too, It would have been much more cost effective to buy a used tank and rework it. Just don't buy from Flea-bay! The problem I have with it is that when it is sitting next to a real tank you can see they are not even close to the same shape. Sorry but just thinking about how stupid I was just gets my blood boiling again. Have a great day, Chuck.

Then there was the genuine original steel Interstate tank that I bought off fleabay. When I stripped the paint I found there was about a gallon of genuine Bondo slopped onto the right side and top. The tank looked like it had been hit by a truck.

Moral of the story? you can get screwed either way! Especially on fleabay.

we use 18 gauge crc sheet in which there is no problem you can even get them chrome we dont use bondo ever. we make the tanks and even chrome them on order as yesterday 10 bsa gold star tanks came in from chrome shop.

Could you tell us where your tanks are made? And give us a link to your site so we could see the raw un-painted products? I am still willing to pay for a nice quality tank that has the lines of the originals, Debby I think I once saw some pictures of your tank. What a surprise it would have been when you first filled it had you not stripped it and found out. Might not have had the capacity, LOL. I hope you didn't pay too much. E-bay has taught me a lot over the years, How some people can say nice shape or usable condition is beyond me. I have a guy I am going to see that says he has a couple of steel tanks, I need to see with my own eyes just what condition they are in. Could I say buyer beware?

I shelved a nice cond set of fiberglass side covers and tank in yellow because the tank began to unravel inside.
Fiber strands started coming through the fuel lines.
I purchased a steel tank and steel side covers of ebay and did well.
The trick I guess was the PO stripped all three to bare metal so I could see exactly what I was getting into.
It appeared to be a project he was not completing.
Batrider also found an excellent tank on ebay as well.
His was still painted black and nicer than mine.
Around $200-300 range we got them for, guess we lucked out?
Sorry to see the pics Debby supplied of that tank.
Should have returned it and shaddy seller should have accepted it in return wheter he knew full of plastic or not.
That's just wrong!!

we are based in new delhi india email us at nmautoexports@hotmail.com we will send you pics as attachment in email as we are working on making a website.

I have heard (this is only repeating rumors) that the Indian stuff is better than the Pakistani (I'm sure this statement has geopolitical implications far beyond old bike parts...).

if any one is willing to send us original side covers as pattern then we can make those in allumuniu, steel sheet.

Well, I've taken them up on their offer. Hope they send some pics, and I'll share them with you guys.

Actually, I just stumbled across this post (of mine) from last year, thought I'd give an update, as I'd completely forgotten to do so, then. I went 'back-and-forth' with these guys over quite a few emails. They sent me pictures of everything under the sun. I did not want that stuff they kept babbling on about. Maybe it was a communication problem, english not being their primary language? ANyway, some pics of other tanks looked ok IN THE PICS. However, after so many frustrating attempts to get a pic of an INTERSTATE tank... which I never did get, I finally gave them the brush off, let the email thread die off. To their credit, they pursued me RELENTLESSLY in their effort to sell me a steel Interstate... but I finally said "F*ck it", since after a couple of months and more emails than I can recount... they failed to ever provide me with the pic, even though they CLAIMED they would send me one.

Like I said, I just threw my hands up and let it die. Still rather pissed at the thought that perhaps they DO make a decent steel interstate (wishful thinking?), but couldn't understand enough to provide me a pic of one. Simply showed me pics of every other kind of tank under the sun.

So, has anyone purchased a steel interstate direct from these guys as of yet? If so, details, please??
